    Release Notes - 2020-09-24

    Attention, Generals!

    In times of war you try to obfuscate your country's true capabilities as well as you can. You hide strategic industries, camouflage your important infrastructure, confuse the enemy wherever you can and censor what newspapers publish!


    Today’s release implements a feature in Call of War 1.5 games that mimics this important aspect of World War II. Buildings are now hidden and are only revealed when within vision range of a unit or revealed by a spy.

    Scouting becomes more important than ever and your build strategies are no longer visible to everyone on the map. The strategy you follow remains a secret until revealed by your opponent.

    Your enemies are in the dark about your machinations! Unfortunately, the reverse applies to you as well.

    Please check out the list below for a complete overview of all changes implemented with today’s release.

    New Features:
    • Buildings of non-allied players are now hidden in the fog of war.
    • Hidden buildings appear with a question mark icon in the province bar.
    • Buildings are temporarily revealed when a province center is within sight of a unit (inner view range circle).
      • Once a province center is in sight it can take 1 to 3 minutes until the buildings are revealed due to technical constraints.
    • Spies can be used to reveal hidden buildings. This can be done within the espionage menu.
      • Buildings revealed this way remain visible until the next day change.
      • Buildings that are constructed after the spy reveal, stay hidden.
    • The newspaper does not announce constructed or destroyed buildings anymore to keep this information hidden from other players.
    • The province bar on mobile was adjusted accordingly.
      • Tapping on a hidden building icon still displays a popup, but only states that this is an unknown building and that it will only be revealed when the area is within vision.
    • These changes only affect newly created Call of War 1.5 game rounds. Call of War 1.0 game rounds and Call of War 1.5 game rounds created before this update are not affected.
    General:
    • Hit points of an army are now displayed including the first decimal in the army bar to avoid armies having 0 hit points.
    • The tooltip texts for hills and forests when hovering over the icon in the desktop province bar were updated.
    • Several updates were made to improve game performance.
    • An army’s attack timer is now also highlighted when selecting an army.
      • Tapping or clicking the Attack timer highlights the unit too.
    Bug Fixes:
    • Several graphical glitches were removed on the Pacific Conquest map when zoomed out, that made parts of a border being displayed within certain provinces.
    • An issue on mobile devices was fixed that caused the map in a game round to stop responding after a message was sent outside the game round.
    • A bug was fixed on PC that prevented players from scrolling the map when the mouse was hovering left or right of the command buttons of the army bar.
    • An issue in Call of War 1.5 game rounds was resolved that caused the arrow buttons next to the command rose to disappear and thus preventing espionage actions, when a player previously switched between neutral or enemy and their own provinces.
    • A bug was fixed that prevented the terrain bonus values of a unit in the army bar being updated correctly when the unit was upgraded to a higher level and not moved.
    • An issue was resolved that prevented the ranks of some secret units being displayed next to their name in the production menu.
    • A bug on mobile devices was fixed that caused the army selection icon to be displayed too far off flying airplanes when the player activated the “Add army” button.
      • The army selection icon is now displayed closer to flying airplanes.
    • An issue was resolved that caused the Fire at Will icon to be displayed next to unknown armies that were located inside the semi-fog of war.
    • A bug was fixed that caused the last login time of a user being displayed on mobile devices when starting a new conversation.

    Attention, Generals!

    Today’s update introduces new buildings, new achievements, a terrain balancing update and much more to Call of War!


    From now on you can build Propaganda Offices and Recruiting Stations in new Call of War 1.5 game rounds. These new buildings can be built in all of your provinces to boost morale and manpower in your nation! While at it, we also added new building icons and reworked existing ones, to make it easier to identify and distinguish the buildings from one another.


    To reward players for their achievements on the various battlefields the new “Organ Player” and “Event Master” achievements were added to reward your accomplishments in crushing the enemy with SP Rocket Artilleries and winning event maps! Good news to all veterans out there, the new achievements are awarded retroactively, so your achievements of the past are not forgotten!

    Last but not least, the terrain balancing was adjusted to the extent that forests and hills now have individual terrain bonuses and do not share the same bonus in Call of War 1.5 game rounds anymore. To reflect that you can find individual forest and hill icons in the unit descriptions now, explaining exactly how the unit performs in those terrains.

    Buildings:
    • “Recruiting Stations” were added to the game. Recruiting Stations boost manpower production in a province and can be built in urban and non-urban provinces.
    • “Propaganda Offices” were added to the game. Propaganda Offices boost morale development in a province and can be built in urban and non-urban provinces.
    • Hand in hand with the introduction of Recruiting Stations and Propaganda Offices additional changes were made to existing buildings to diversify building roles and create more strategic choices:
      • The manpower boost was removed from Industries and its costs reduced accordingly.
      • The morale boost was removed from Infrastructures and its costs reduced accordingly.
      • Each building now has its own unique role.
    • “Recruiting Stations”, “Propaganda Offices” and changes made to Industries and Infrastructures are only available in newly created Call of War 1.5 game rounds, Call of War 1.0 game rounds and game rounds created before this update are not affected.
    • New building icons were implemented on desktop and mobile to make them more recognizable and distinguishable from one another for each building.
    • Historical images were updated for several buildings.

    New Achievements:
    • The “Event Master” achievement was added to the game.
      • This achievement rewards winning event maps (any event).
    • The “Organ Player” achievement was added to the game.
      • This achievement rewards destroying units using SP Rocket Artillery.
    • The new “Event Master” and “Organ Player” achievements are awarded retroactively, meaning that your achievements of past battles and events count towards these achievements.
    Army Bar and Split Popup:
    • The army split popup was reworked.
      • The round unit icons were replaced with the unit icons from the recently updated army bar, including health bar, number of units, armor class and unit level.
      • The unit icon is clickable now. Clicking/Tapping it selects or deselects all units of that type.
      • The default number of units selected when opening the army split popup is now 0, to make it easier to split off units from bigger armies.
      • You can adjust the number of selected units by using the slider or clicking/tapping the ‘+’ or ‘-’ buttons next to the slider.
    • When selecting multiple armies, the Army Bar now displays the info text “multiple armies selected”, instead of showing army name, army status and army activity. This is to not display inaccurate information, as previously only the details of one of the selected armies were displayed.
    • The embarking and disembarking times are now displayed in the activity section of the Army Bar when a unit/army is embarking or disembarking.
    • A doctrine specific background image was added to the army bar of known armies on desktop.
    Call of War 1.5 Balancing:
    • Several balancing changes were implemented for:
      • Buildings
      • Doctrines
      • Mechanics
      • Units
    • Terrain and stealth bonuses of units were reworked to make use of the newly implemented split between hills and forests, to give units even more distinct roles.
    • For more details on all balancing changes, please check our 2020-09-08 Release Details post on the forums (Eng. only).
    General:
    • Hills and Forests are now displayed separately in the unit details panel and province bar.
    • The front-facing unit images used on mobile devices were adjusted to better fit the layout and size of mobile devices.
    • The appearance of sliders on mobile devices has been adjusted to match the sliders implemented with the rework of the split army

    For the most part these changes only affect newly created CoW1.5 games, created after the time of this post (2020-09-08).



    Buildings:
    • Added new building “Recruiting Station” which boosts manpower production in a province by up to +200%. It has 3 levels and is buildable in both urban and non-urban provinces. This is to diversify building roles and create more strategic choices.
      • Removed the manpower production boost from Industry and Local Industry since we now have a separate building for it. Reduced the construction costs and time of Industry and Local Industry to account for this.
    • Added new building “Propaganda Office” which boosts morale development in a province up to +40. It has 3 levels and is buildable in both urban and non-urban provinces. This is to diversify building roles and create more strategic choices.
      • Removed morale boost from Infrastructure since we now have a separate building for it. Reduced construction costs and time of Infrastructure to account for this.
    • Slightly shifted resource costs around for multiple buildings (without changing their total costs or resource categories) to keep the resource needs distributed evenly among all buildings.
    • Capitol:
      • Added a positive morale modifier of +10 to the province it is located in.
    Doctrines:
    • Panasian:
      • Reduced terrain bonus modifier for existing bonuses from +25% to +20% (absolute values).
    Units:
    • Separated hills and forests terrain into 2 separate terrain types with their own modifiers, and normalized terrain bonuses depending on the average amount of provinces with each terrain on standard maps:
    • Anti Air:
      • Removed terrain bonus in forests.
      • Increased terrain bonus in hills.
    • Anti Tank:
      • Removed terrain bonus in hills.
      • Increased terrain bonus in forests.
      • Removed stealth ability in hills.
    • Artillery:
      • Removed terrain bonus in forests.
      • Increased terrain bonus in hills.
    • Commandos:
      • Removed terrain bonus in hills.
      • Increased terrain bonus in forests.
    • Infantry:
      • Added terrain bonus in forests.
      • Reduced terrain bonus in mountains slightly.
    • Militia:
      • Reduced terrain bonus in hills.
    • Paratroopers:
      • Reduced terrain bonus in hills.
      • Removed stealth ability in hills.
    • Rocket Artillery:
      • Removed terrain bonus in forests.
      • Increased terrain bonus in hills.
    • SP Anti Air:
      • Removed terrain bonus in forests.
      • Increased terrain bonus in hills.
    • SP Artillery:
      • Removed terrain bonus in forests.
      • Increased terrain bonus in hills.
      • Reduced terrain bonus in plains slightly.
    • SP Rocket Artillery:
      • Removed terrain bonus in forests.
      • Increased terrain bonus in hills.
      • Reduced terrain bonus in plains slightly.
    • Tank Destroyer:
      • Removed terrain bonus in plains.
      • Removed terrain bonus in hills.
      • Added terrain bonus in urbans.
      • Increased terrain bonus in forests.
      • Removed stealth ability in hills.
    • Other unit changes:
    • Nuclear Bomber:
      • Slightly decreased speed to the same level as Strategic Bombers.
      • Replaced Metal costs with Goods costs.
      • Normalized resource costs between Goods and Oil.
    • Nuclear rocket:
      • Decreased Hitpoints to the same level as Rocket level 4.
      • Increased flight speed to the same level as Rocket level 4.
      • Normalized resource costs between Oil and Metal.
    • Railroad Gun:
      • Changed building level requirement to reach minimum production time from Secret Lab lvl3 to Secret Lab lvl4.
      • Slightly increased production time.
      • Removed all terrain bonuses, since logically it is bound to railways.
      • Increased damage values slightly to make up for loss of terrain bonuses.
    • Rocket fighters:
      • Slightly increased Hitpoints.
    • Transport Ship:
      • decreased damage on higher levels.
      • Slightly increased research cost.
    Mechanics:
    • Increased the maximum expansion morale penalty from -35 to -40. This is countered by the now more effective Propaganda Office building.
    • From now on only fights near a province center will trigger morale and building damage in that province.
    Interface:
    • Reworked split army popup. Click on the new - or + button to decrease or increase the selected amount or click on the unit icon to select or deselect all units of a type (also in CoW1.0 and for existing games).
    • New building icons for buildings that shared the same icons before (also for existing CoW1.5 games).
    • Hills and Forests terrain is now displayed separately in province bar and unit details panel.
    • New background for unit section in army bar, depending on the Doctrine used.
    • 2 new achievements in player profiles (progress will be awarded retroactively):
      • Organ Player: Destroy X units using SP rocket artillery. In Reference to the "Stalin's organ", a nickname several countries gave to the Katyusha rocket launcher.
      • Event Master: Win any event map X times.

  • Patch Notes - 2020-08-26

    Attention, Generals!

    Today’s update brings several bug fixes for Call of War. We adjusted the upgrade icon in the new army bar to make it easier to see when an upgrade is available. We also fixed several bugs with the new army bar to make sure you have all the information and can take advantage of all of its functionalities.

    For a complete overview of today’s changes, please see the following list below:

    General:
    • The upgrade icon in the army bar was reworked to make it easier for players to identify units that can be upgraded.
    Bug fixes:
    • Several bugs with the new army bar were resolved:
      • A bug was fixed that prevented the travel time preview from being displayed in the army bar when a unit was dragged/moved on the map.
      • A bug was fixed that prevented the complete travel time from being displayed when an aircraft was sent to a destination with multiple stopovers on its way.
      • An issue was resolved that prevented the travel and arrival times of non-allied units at the edge of the Fog of War from being displayed in the army bar.
      • A bug was fixed that prevented the travel time of delayed, refueling or embarking troops from being displayed in the army bar.
    • An issue was resolved that caused flying planes to have their convoy speed displayed in the army bar, although the flying speed value should have been displayed.
    • A bug was fixed that prevented sliders in the game from functioning correctly.
      • Sliders now also work with a single click. Dragging and dropping a slider is not the only method to set sliders anymore.
    • An issue on mobile was resolved that prevented the embarkment time bonus from being displayed in the building details of Local Ports and Naval Bases.
    • An issue on mobile was resolved, that caused the displayed resource costs to be displayed incorrectly. In some cases costs were displayed as 2K food, 2k metal, and 4k cash, instead of 1.5K food, 1.5k metal, and 4k cash.
    • A bug was fixed that prevented the construction costs of buildings from being displayed in the building details panel.
    • A bug was fixed that caused the construction and production panels to remain visible when a player entered the shop.
    • A bug was fixed that prevented the bonus ribbons for some shop offers from being displayed correctly.

    Today we introduce the reworked version of the Army Bar in Call of War on desktop, Android and iOS!


    The new army bar provides you with more useful information, highlights the most important ones and unifies the look and feel on desktop and mobile. You can now immediately see what action your army is currently executing, when the next attack will be performed, or how many hitpoints your army has. The army bar now also tells you what doctrine the army has, by displaying a distinctive image in the background.

    New Army Bar on Android and iOS:


    On desktop we also reworked the style of the command buttons which you can find above the reworked army bar. The command buttons will be updated for Android and iOS in a future release as well.

    New Army Bar on Desktop:


    Apart from the new army bar we made several balancing changes to Call of War 1.5 game rounds and fixed multiple bugs in the game.

    Please find a complete list of all changes of today’s release below:

    Army Bar:
    • The army bar has a new style and layout. The style and layout on desktop and mobile have a more unified look now.
    • The new status section in the army bar highlights important attributes of an army.
      • Like speed, army size and damage against preferred target armor classes
    • Information was added to the activity section of the army bar.
      • Activity icons and timers for current army actions (e.g. time until next attack) were added.
      • Detailed information was added. Like the exact amount of hit points of the army or the armor class of units of the army.
    • The doctrine of the country an army belongs to is now highlighted in the background of the army bar.
    • The condition boost button was added to the army bar on mobile.
    • Command buttons are now displayed in a new style above the army bar on desktop.
      • This change will be reflected on mobile with an upcoming release.
    Call of War 1.5 Balancing:
    • Attack Bombers deal slightly more damage against light armor class units and ships.
    • Production and research costs for Battleships, Destroyers, Railroad Guns and Paratroopers were slightly increased.
    • Paratroopers:
      • A convert button was added for Paratroopers that are in airplane mode: Paratroopers can now abandon their airplane and convert to Infantry when the plane is landed in a province and do not need to be dropped on an enemy.
      • When the convert button is activated, the time needed to convert an airplane to Infantry is the same as converting from Infantry to airplane. This action does not cost anything.
      • Paratroopers can now be produced in Airplane or Infantry mode.
      • The mobilization time after deployment was reduced from 15h/12h/9h/6h to 12h/10h/8h/6h.
      • Converting times to re-deploy were adjusted from 6h on each level to 7h/6h/5h/4h.
      • Costs for converting a Paratrooper from Infantry back to Airplane now increases with each level.
    • Naval Bombers deal slightly less damage against land targets.
    • Nuclear Bombers and Rockets now deal more damage to provinces.
      • To balance this change Nuclear Bombers and Rockets have less hit points and deal less damage against units.
    • Railroad Guns do not receive a terrain bonus on Plains anymore.
    • Rockets and Flying Bombs now require more Metal instead of Oil.
    • To give Rocket Fighters a more distinctive role in game rounds:
      • The range was reduced by ~20%.
      • The attack damage was increased by 50%.
      • The Goods and Manpower costs were slightly reduced.
    • These changes only affect newly created CoW 1.5 game rounds. CoW 1.0 game rounds and CoW 1.5 game rounds created before this update are not affected by this change.
    General:
    • Image quality is now automatically adjusted according to the memory available with a device to improve performance.
    • Only close allies block 3rd party units from conquering an ally’s province.
      • Nations with “shared map” or “shared intelligence” block 3rd party units from conquering provinces, while nations with “right of way” don’t do so anymore. This change was made to address the issue that 3rd party units were blocked from conquering provinces when their ally had “right of way” with the attacked nation.
    • The sorting order of Ordnance units in production and research interfaces for CoW 1.5 games was adjusted.
      • SP Artillery was moved below Artillery.
      • SP Anti Air was moved below Anti Air.
      • This change was made to make research requirements clearer.
      • This change only affects newly created CoW 1.5 game rounds. CoW 1.0 game rounds and CoW 1.5 game rounds created before this update are not affected by this change.
    • “Army Strength” was renamed to “Garrison Strength” in the province morale tooltip to make it clearer that the strength needed to suppress a revolt is calculated differently than the army strength.
    Bug fixes:
    • The game suggestion avatar is no longer displayed on top of the province bar on Android and iOS.
    • A bug was fixed that caused the displayed production time and the actual production time on speed maps to not be consistent. The displayed production time now matches the actual production time on speed maps.
