Quote from Restrisiko: “For observe and reacting, one have to be online anyway, so just at the beginning of a map with little available resources and with a view to an expansion of the own empire, the required resources for mobile units would be more useful. ” That's a consequence of playing an always-on live-time game. If you can't be online much, you're going to have a hard time winning this game. There's no excuse for that, because anyone can spend five minutes at a time to check in on their …

  • I can't find any of my games. I currently have 3 matches but none are showing at all. I can't even see new games. It's giving me this message: "You don't have any running games. Press the "Play now" button to join a new round." However, before hitting submit, here, I tried logging out and back in. Now, the games are back. If this is intentional, then instead of the message I got (above), there should be a message indicating that a re-login is needed.

Quote from Restrisiko: “Quote from GenHitman: “Quote from Restrisiko: “Why not just use the already existing guards and watch-towers (= units + fortifications) as all experienced players do? >> the units remain mobile and the fortifications are needed anyway for the moral.. -- ..instead of wasting resources on stationary buildings, which are mostly only needed temporarily because the front is constantly changing and maybe tomorrow is completely elsewhere ..Wiki_Sticki_DS.gif ” you clearly did no…

  • ha ha ha ha level 40 as a mentor ha ha ha ha Oh, I remember those days, back when I was a noob and thought reaching levels 40 and 50 would make me a star. xD Now, I admit, I'll take on a learner once in awhile. But it can also be tedious if they don't listen or aren't online often enough. There is no greater weapon in a strategy game than experience. But even the most experienced players can be wiped out by a heavy golder...or just pure bad luck. Either way, I would argue that mentoring others i…

Quote from dioglaert: “The big stack has fire control set to aggressive so that it will go to work on the enemy subs ASAP ” That's assuming you have High Command. Not everyone can afford to budget for this...and some players think it's a cheat (though even I don't think it's a cheat, and I'm vehemently opposed to Gold premium points in this game).

  • When are you people going to learn? Bytro's developers are stubborn people. They are never going to have paratroopers just like they are never going to get rid of Gold. Just accept it. They won't listen to reason. It is what it is. If you don't like a heavy golder in your match, quit and join a new one. If you don't like the lack of paratroopers, play Conflict of Nations, instead. What a tired argument this is...paratroopers...just like the gold argument.

  • Hm, the German generals probably would not "blame" God, though maybe "providence"...or rather, misfortune. Were they true God-fearing men, they never would have condoned the SS or the Nazi Party or their atrocities...nor their own atrocities. Anyway, there's always an argument for "What if?" That doesn't negate the reality that God does intervene in the events of man. Sure, the soldiers (either side, depending on your point of view) played their part, but when God acts....he acts. So true is tha…

Ah, but some should be implemented. I've always liked the idea of a watchtower or lookout post. It's only a minor building enhancement but would serve a special purpose to extend visual range. This would enhance ranged (artillery) bombardment (by being able to see the target)....especially for RR Guns. This would also enable earlier detection of incoming invasions. Sure, it may be not-mobile, but so what? Suppose you actually don't lose a province with a watchtower in it, yet you do lose a provi…

  • Quote from ronon_: “As for the front and the victory under Moscow, it was determined by the transfer of large reserves from the Far East and Siberia, after receiving foreign intelligence reliable data that Japan did not enter the war in the near future (yes, such a threat over the USSR constantly hung, in 1939 there were already major military clashes with Japan - ” Maybe true, but remember, it's a vastly long trip from Yakutia to Moscow. Not everything can travel on the rails, and everything th…

  • Quote from Lukenick: “Some games unfortunately take a few days to get going in terms of players joining. And after day 5, nobody would want to join. Maybe we should pause games from starting for 1-3 days, or until it's half-full, unless the host chooses otherwise. ” Yeah, that feature already exists...it's the forced peace period that you can set between human and/or AI players.

  • Quote from LenTm: “It would be possible to make a special site where you make cards and send them to the administration and they will decide to accept or not. What do you think? ” This has been done. In fact, it was done by some staff volunteers on Trello, where membership was extended to any interested parties who wanted to have an active roll in developing ideas for the game. However, due to lack of interest by the player community, it was eventually abandoned. I was a member of that group — a…

  • Quote from Xarus: “The Blitzkrieg map is not historical accurate. A map in CoW must be balanced and what I mean is that the nations must be playable. I think from our view today, if we look back, Japan and Germany had never a chance to win this war and this is good in the way it is. ” As to the accuracy of the Blitz map....I only say "it's close enough". After all, this is "just a game" as you imply. And let me tell you, both you and another user in this thread both stated that assumption that G…

  • Quote from Lukenick: “I just want to say that poll had a heavy response bias, you cannot say no. ” The "I don't care" answer implies a "no". And normal people would recognize that.

  • Quote from Xarus: “Sorry, the game design not allows to design a map editor/scenario editor. But feel free to make some suggestion for new maps/scenarios. ” Ahem, No, the design is not absolute. I am a software engineer — a programmer — and I know beyond shadow of doubt that nothing is stopping the devs from adding a scenario builder except for a lack of interest. They are far more interested in protecting their messy and disorganized proprietary software's rather poor spaghetti code than in reb…

Quote from Lukenick: “I agree with your statement regarding the stealth of submarines being ineffective against destroyers and other subs and I think the naval bombers should not be able to detect them when they're not battling. I still stand against the landmines because of the cost of implementing this idea. If you add landmines, they could slow the game down significantly and make it even harder to beat heavy gold users. ” Actually, the game is necessarily slow, already. A typical large match…

Quote from Lukenick: “Besides landmines are not related to watch towers, therefore it's off topic. ” Quote from Diabolical: “This actually has sparked another idea for me, though. Perhaps there should be a new function/feature that can be done in a province. It would be employed in the same manner as constructing a building and would occupy the building process while it is done. This new feature would be to deploy landmines. ” You see, I know it was off-topic. That wasn't the point. I said that …

This is similar to something I've proposed/requested, before. But basically, you want a building that acts like a permanent garrison of an Armored Car. That is easily achieved by using an Armored Car anyway. A simpler suggestion is to just have an outpost building that extends view range....only. Let it be increased for higher levels (up to 3?) and make it relatively difficult to destroy by Artillery (small targets are harder to hit) so as to prevent the advantage of early warning to be negated …

  • Quote from K.Rokossovski: “Quote from Diabolical: “I hate to be the one to say this, but I find your poll too wordy...and not simple enough. Heck, if "I" don't get it, who else would? I'm the king of long and wordy, here. And I say your poll is too unintelligible. Why don't you refine it, simplify it, and then restart it as a new poll after doing so? Sorry, not trying to bust your balls, here. ” Oh man... coming from you, I really LOVE LOVE LOVE this remark!!! ” Yeah, I'm thinking about adding t…

  • Quote from Kanaris: “You don't even see the contradiction in your own words. When something has limited use (as you you claim above) then by definition its NOT useless. ” BRAVO!!! Well, said. Quote from Lukenick: “The idea for having infrastructure for infantry was stupid I know, I was just thinking of making infantry easier to build and, well that would make it easier, but yes I agree it's a stupid idea. ” Actually, it's not that stupid of an idea. You're trying to come up with ideas to help. A…

  • Quote from BeerBelly: “No good/great player uses militia, they just don't. ” There you go, starting this conversation right off with an unjustified claim. I use Militia...some of the time. And I find them very useful in several situations. Among them, is escort duty for that unit that you said was the only one slower than it, the Railroad Gun. Sure, Militia are pretty sad on the battlefield -- especially against bombers and tanks -- but they do take the heat off the RR Gun in their primary role.…
