I have been on hiatus for a while but still try to stay up on news, so figured I'd log in for this one. I am also skeptical of this change. There were some problems with the old resource balancing (e.g. artillery requiring the protection of AA, but with a near perfect overlap in resources required) but I would have preferred that be fixed through cost adjustments rather than removal of complexity.

Interesting bump. I'll add one thing to the stealth comment--naval units, regardless of level, can't see militia at all when they're in stealth terrain. This makes them excellent coastal lookouts. In fact, that's probably my main use case for them.
Seems like a fine idea, carriers don't benefit from upgrades in the same way combat units do so this might incentivize upgrades. Maybe up L1s to 35 so that L2 gets the "default" 30, then decrease by 5 minutes (like AFs) so that elite carriers are 10min.
Can confirm, Retirement victories count the same as regular victories. I've got 25 solos on my account and 25 solos on my achievement, and both include several retirement wins
