BBs aren't ground units. But yes, in that circumstance the patrolling planes should do damage to the attacking naval bombers, unless there's some weird glitch with naval units that I'm not aware of. I don't normally make a navy so haven't tested that mechanic lately.

You aren't aware of patrolling mechanics? The patrolling planes do damage 100% of the time if the ground units are within their patrol circle at the moment of attack

Overall, it was fun but exhausting. 4x is too much for me, I think. I would have liked to go for the solo, but considering Xingjiang's stacks when I had to make that decision, and knowing now how active Japan would end up being, I don't think my chances were very good.
