I think those things would help (hence my original question that started this thread because I was using the workaround of password-protecting the round. Which was a total bust, btw-- nobody contacted me to join). How about also: Limiting the number of simultaneous games? Rank penalty for abandoning a game? Doesn't have to be much.

I think we all agree that players disappearing the first day is a big problem; it's a little like the Klingon curse: "may you outlive all your enemies!". I like knowing there's a person on the other side of that border, and I love the diplomatic trash talk a lively game creates. None of that when all your neighbors are AIs. there are some interesting ideas floating around this thread. Is anybody from the developers' side here to comment on anything the company might be doing to encourage players…

If I may gently bring us back, it would be helpful if a moderately-elevated player (however you end up defining that) could create games with minimum level requirements to minimize dropouts. I'm on day 5 of a North American game and there are only 15 active players out of the original 50. That's absurd. Perhaps a limit on the number of games a player can be in at once? Or a reduction in rank as consequence of abandoning a game? Yes, there might be real-world reasons for doing so, but still... An…

Thanks, both of you. I'm advertising for players now. It would be helpful if we could create games with the same options as the administrators, including level requirements to discourage early-game dropouts.

I've created a Clash of Nations game with a password to minimize early-game dropouts by limiting the game to medium-advanced players. If you're level 20 or higher, message me for the password to join game #2363265, also known as "What does not kill you..." Select your country and let's have fun! vanyel1963

Game number 2363265, "What does not kill you..." I created it with password to limit the game to level 20 and above, to minimize newbies dropping out at the beginning. Nobody has contacted me, for the obvious reason that it's not showing up as a New Game, so how could anyone know it's there? This is the first time I've created a passworded game; is there something I'm missing? Thanks! vanyel1963

Clever solution; thanks! ! !

Games with no level requirement seem to have a big dropout problem-- half the players are replaced with AIs right away. A level requirement seems to help with that problem, but I don't see the option to require higher-level players in the "create game" process. Yes, I know the system creates some games that don't allow newbies, but I'm looking for country selection and no coalitions, so I need to create my own game and invite more experienced people to join. Am I missing something in the create-…

I've been playing as if war with NPCs is a one way thing-- once you attack them you have to take over every single province because they never make peace. And if you leave one province, you pay the Morale penalty forever. Is there an alternative to genocide that I'm overlooking? Can I take some provinces from an AI-controlled country and leave the rest alone? I know how to make peace with a human, but the AI seems not to respond to requests for peace. Am I having a brain fart and overlooked some…
