  • Quote from Carking the 6th: “Turkey and Netherlands need to be added. I especially like Turkey as you can stay neutral and suddenly attack with a strong force while everyone is busy. edit:just read that said less than 70… ” I hear that, however, the strength of the Netherlands (early on) is completely reliant upon favorable relations in Europe. I'm playing through as Netherlands right now and even after what I thought to be a clever/even comical attempt to seek mercy from Germany, I was stomped.…

  • Sadly, UK and France have allied. France has begun attacking me. My expensive strategy of spamming armored cars is possibly paying off. It was the most advanced unit that Siam had researched. Unfortunately, India has been unresponsive and Nationalist China is super aggressive and not sympathetic to any of its local small nations. It seems as though I'm destined for death. However, I will be the biggest pain possible for my French invaders.

  • I've never played as either of those countries on the historic maps. I'm a sucker for the smaller countries. Currently giving Siam a go on the 73 player map. It's looking pretty hopeless as the economy is going to be dreadfully slow to build, but I finagled my way into a "partnership" with Australia, so maybe I have a shot. Both the UK and France have colonies surrounding me, and my only city is Bangkok(on the shore), so I'm pretty much indefensible if they actually drew attention to me. I'm hop…

  • Lol, the point is: If you spend a few hundred bucks, you too can have 12% of the world's armies on day 4. Thankfully, there's plenty of maps where the Jefs of the world don't have such deep pockets. When I encounter them, I thank them for their funding, antagonize them with painful AA stacks, and remind them that I destroyed their units at an extremely discounted rate.

  • Quote from 6thDragon: “If it were me, I would try putting a small stack of Anti-Tank to escort a unit to use as bait... ” Using stealth is probably one of your cheapest bets here. A half stack of half-way researched anti-tank is cheap and would devastate this guy if he ran into it unexpectedly.

  • Python said it well. Personally, I prioritize local industry first (just because my core is typically always secure and it's cheaper than city-industry). I'll be quick to toss a PO in a non-core city if I need that specific resource, as I feel that's significantly more bang for my buck than building 5 levels of city-priced industry until I have a booming late-game economy and can afford it.

  • Coalitions

I like this idea. It's extremely dissatisfying to have messy borders. Also, for games where most of the map goes to AI - imagine if AI could form up rival coalitions. This function definitely has its share of downsides (if you're alone, you're screwed), but realistically, in world war it's never just 100 individual nations out for themselves. I also doubt it's realistic to design the AI coalition mechanics for minimal benefit of the game. But, as I've said in other threads, I'm just looking for …

  • Given that this thread is pinned, does that mean this is actually being considered? It's only been sitting here for 6 years...

  • If you're using the allies doctrine, you can usually get away with spamming tac bombers. The limited range on the attack bombers is a real handicap.

*WANTED* Looking for proof that someone has, in-fact, been successful as the Netherlands in a HWW round. I've probably played 10 rounds and I've never seen that country active for longer than 4 days. I also haven't had the luck of the country being available to pick when starting. I imagine it's impossible to do without a sympathetic Germany or UK. I also don't know what that country starts out with units-wise. Let's see your results, and share your strategy!

  • ROW vs. Share Map with AI

To add on to everyone else's feedback, by having positive relations with player's on the 'Most Feared' list, you also drop your popularity. At the end of the day, if you're down below 40% popularity with the AI, you're probably never going to be back on their good sides within that round. That's why it's important to treat your popularity with delicacy if you anticipate having too many AI neighbors late game. Early game, people like to take those one-city nations. However, everytime you declare …

  • I enjoy the originality of this idea. I like the idea of an additional diplomacy mechanic. I also think it could be interesting to add an intelligence aspect to this. Let's say you have a ~5% chance of capturing an officer or squad leader within the destroyed unit that provides intel of a nearby enemy unit or structure (ie airfields). My other contributing thought is that you're going to have to feed these POWs. So, I expect there would need to be a food penalty, similar to any other infantry un…

Quote from K.Rokossovski: “The problem with 73p HWW is that there are SO many nations that no one really wants to play. Wolves are lurking in the shadows till lambs pick Nicaragua and Danzig, so they can quickly jump on Germany when the new one opens up. Getting maps full will be even slower when it is not at 4x speed (very popular!) and people may have to wait for days for their map to start. ” To incentivise players to pick smaller nations, what do we think about providing more-heavily weighte…

Quote from AMG Morgan: “I support this idea but I think bytro favors a more simple game. I mean the fact that they took out negative terrain bonus like tanks dealing -25 damage in urban still saddens me to this day. ” I agree with this. I think many of the long-time players are hungry for some more sophistication.

  • I like the idea. HWW is my favorite map specifically because it's not "fair".

Quote from K.Rokossovski: “I dunno... we already have fortresses/bunkers, but how often do you use them? ” I use bunkers and fortresses in larger games where I don't have many friends nearby and expect to get squashed. As for barriers/barricades, I see them as something that could be beneficial late-game when your territory is huge and you want to create pinch-points to choreograph a defense. Honestly, I'm just looking for something to make a more dynamic approach to the defensive aspect of the …

  • This used to be something I did awhile back when I knew I was going to lose. I would send a militia unit to sea with a couple of naval units, and once I even took the coastline capital of the country to ruined me. Granted, this was over a year ago, and I think you lose the ability to place orders once all of your territory is taken. There's not really a chance for a comeback. Sometimes you might be able to get sympathy from a large country that will lend you a landlocked city of theirs' just to …

I totally missed the 'dragon's teeth' post, but thanks for a thought provoking response! I agree with the speed penalty to all, and if barricades are slowing, and infrastructure is helping to speed things up, it can allow for a more dynamic experience trying to manage particularly lengthy borders. Personally, I would expect enemy bombardment to damage/removed barricades, similarly to bunkers and fortifications. I don't see a need for a dissemble feature as no other structures in the game allow f…

    Post

Quote from General Michaelis: “i voted no Because if this idea got implemented then generals basically wont be free and bytro will abuse F2p players more and more with higher advantages for those who pay ” So you're not even open to the concept of a new game mechanic because you're looking for a free service? Beside's blueprints, bytro hasn't made any units or gameplay function exclusive to premium currency, so I doubt if this was implemented you'd see it here. This input is simply not construct…
