    If cruisers can't destroy even one measly infantry unit within a reasonable amount of time(and higher levels won't solve anything. L1 cruisers and infantry really should have the same strength ratio as max level cruisers and infantry), they're entirely useless for defending during a beach landing, and therefore are entirely useless in this game in general.

    Was expecting something a little less than 48 hours of constant bombardment to kill one L1 infantry unit.

  • I'd like to start out by saying that I approve of having the building icons on the map having moved away from their bubbly(for lack of a better term) icons, having been replaced by more obvious and intuitive symbols.     Admittedly a good map, but it's missing the dozens of important small islands(Midway, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Solomon Islands, Marshall Islands, Mariana Islands, Guam, and so on and so forth, all sites of significant WW2 Pacific Theater battles.), even more vast expanses of ocean, as well as the USA. As such, it is missing several very large parts of the Pacific Theater style warfare. Therefore this isn't a suitable map in its current state. Good try though.

    In game 1070133, I've had my first cruiser bombarding the one enemy infantry unit in Copenhagen for nearly 24 hours now. The unit was not killed, but only brought down to 49% morale. This seems to me to be unaccountably feeble. As I'd rather not wait another 24 hours to kill the unit entirely, I'm going to be testing how the cruiser fares against a troop transport boat.

  • Have to say I've been enjoying the darker tone. When it's all bright and flashy, it looks like an obnoxiously flamboyant plastic kid's toy. This is a war game, not playing around with bright plastic shovels in an equally bright plastic sandbox.

    Simply moving the map around can create some interesting special effects.     Well, given that only certain provinces produce resources, it's probably a good idea to start upgrading those first with infrastructure/port, whichever is more geographically advantageous. The expensive industrial complexes are already built in most cities, so it could be a good idea to specialize each of those in production of one type of unit through selective building upgrades(infrastructure for armour, port for naval, air base for aircraft), although it is probably a good idea to have at lea…

    Thanks for the explanations. Sound like there is some sort of damage priority system based on unit type which makes military convoys function as you say. Are there any other instances where that happens? Perhaps prioritizing damage to escorting fighter planes before bombers?

    I've been wondering about the meaning of certain things about the units. Let's take L1 infantry as an example: Infantry.png The first question pertains to where it says "Type: Infantry 32" What does the "32" mean? Next is in the Strength against armour class section. What do those symbols mean? I highly suspect that they mean, from left to right, infantry, armour, aircraft, buildings, naval, submarines.   • Been seeing some interesting numbers in the DE regarding this. I know that I've killed one enemy unit(not sure what type though), and it was reported that 500 enemies were killed. However, for foreign wars, DE is reporting casualty rates with numbers like 4,325 and 2,022 and 167 and 2,417. I'm suspecting that the unit model for this game is a bit more sophisticated than 1 = 1,000. And I wouldn't be surprised if different types of units have different numbers of troops in them.     On the note of complexity, I've been starting to suspect that this game is some sort of cross between s1914 and Hearts of Iron 3. S1914 is great because it has great depth that emerges from striking simplicity. HoI3 is great because it has great depth emerging from complexity. So far the devs have done an excellent job balancing those two things. Should be interesting to see how they develop that further.
