  • Ship names

    omnisxiii2 - - Suggestions / Criticism

Bruh this was a thing even back in 1.5, its just gone again. Granted its undertsandable that a number of folks used this to make extremely lewd or inappropriate names for their ships, and like 90% of players never bothered changing it from the random province name defaults. But like...I always loved spamming navy above all, because I'm a guy who lives near the ocean. I prided myself in thinking of ridiculously long, complicated, and posh-sounding ship names that were historically relevant. I mis…

  • They would be displayed in their own bar in the detailed unit info, along all the other info under the unit photo They'd still be visible in the newspaper sometimes, but sometimes it would get a little too difficult to remember "did I name this ship Regina Margherita di Savoia or Regina Adelaide"? Then you'd make a mistake trying to remember and the next thing you know there are three battleships named "Dona Francisca de Braganca" floating around in the world, and you can't even rename them anym…

  • Hey devs, This is an exceptionally minor complaint right now but...one of the silly things I like to do is to give my battleships and carriers exceptionally long and "sophisticated" names, or historical names. I know, it's silly. But I also found it quite interesting to get that one beautifully named ship with 50+ kills and for both me and my allies to keep track of the most successful ships by name. It was also funny to make extremely specific names for units (especially nuclear bombers and roc…

  • Rebellion Mechanisms

Here's what I know about rebellions... 1. Places with low morale don't like you anymore. 2. The more they feel sad, the more likely they want to leave you. 3. Putting a large force in the sad place will make everyone not sad. For some reason. 4. Rebellions occur at the start of each day, before recalculating morale. 5. Putting some armies will make places less likely to revolt. 6. If the garrison is also feeling quite sad, they will occasionally join the rebellion. 7. In the event of a successfu…

  • Here's my opinion. 1. Bomber range, and plane range in general, needs a buff. You had bombers and fighters flying from England to Berlin to bomb targets in WWII. No plane in this game does that, until the highest tier. And unless you own every single island, flying planes in the pacific is nonexistent. 2. Naval bombers need higher attack values against land targets. The very fact that lower tier ones can't even scratch a tank but can blow up a submarine is sad.(But this is a bit unrelated to the…

  • Here's two possible solutions to this problem: 1. You're playing the balanced 50-player map. Check around and perhaps you have a good production of some other resource. I know that in the 25 player map, Germany starts with ridiculously small rare materials production, but if you do a quick Anschluss of Poland and Lithuania, or Belgium, you will soon be alright. Similarly, Finland has insanely high rate materials production but is lackluster in food and goods. You could take Karelia or Sweden, an…

  • Also I see you're playing as Poland. We must be the only two people in this whole game who play as Poland, ever. Polska pride!

  • It would be hard to replicate that kind of formation in CoW. What I usually end up doing is stacking everybody in a big group, which should raise defense if needed (put enough destroyers and cruisers with your carrier and all it fears will be battleships). In addition, you can send subs to scout the route ahead for you. Destroyers work as well, but can alert an enemy to the path of your carrier group. On occasion if I'm running low on food, I will send convoys of infantry and militia to scout ah…

Probs the destroyer. I know thr destroyers in this game are usually used as either scout ships or as anti-sub escorts for larger ships. Subs are just good at sinking unescorted battleships and convoys, plus as recon units for scouting landing sites. The destroyer has great anti-sub values. The sub has decent anti-ship but it isn't high enough in this case.

  • Here's a youtube link list, following up on my previous post. Sibelius 2 (not 7 or 9), mvmt 4 youtu.be/wWlzbT_CvqI?list=PLly_Tdxkulv1oIaTK71pfzvOHIpJve2iz Shostakovitch 5, mvmt 4 youtu.be/7mI4WLAhjj0?list=PLly_Tdxkulv1oIaTK71pfzvOHIpJve2iz The Great Gate of Kiev youtu.be/Itdm46ZVLfA In case you haven't heard it before yet (I think you referenced it earlier), here's Holst, Mars, Bringer of War youtu.be/L0bcRCCg01I?list=PLly_Tdxkulv1oIaTK71pfzvOHIpJve2iz

  • I'm not sure exactly what you really want. Holst is kind of a hard guy to match in exact style of you look for stuff earlier than him. But since IRL I'm a freelance musician I can offer suggestions. If you are a 1/32 Slav superstar (like me) or you're just spamming militia regiments against heavy tanks: Shostakovich symphony 5, mvmt 4 Or maybe you are not Slav superstar. In which case I remember a Sibelius symphony with a nice theme in the 4th mvmt, but dear me, I have forgotten which symphony i…

IDK. Stuff is weird in this game sometimes.

  • Guys, this thread is as cancer as cancer itself. The rules make it clear. Gold use is acceptable. Read the forum rules.

  • Pretty sure AI are allowed to use gold. Not too much, but a small amount. If you want you could also spam gold. And get a swarm of subs on day one. Let's be honest - says clearly in the rules that Gold usage is not cheating, it's just a way for developers to get money so they can not go Holdenmor starve mode.

  • Apparently tac bombers levels 4+ can be carrier based, according to the stats. Haven't tried this yet but I just thought of all those times I couldve done something epic with them.

  • TThroughout history, spies have played an important role in international affairs. The Zimmerman telegram was intercepted and sent to the United States, one of the major reasons why the US eventually entered WWI. And the cracking of Enigma allowed the allies to gain valuable information. Most of communication between allied nations comes through sending messages through diplomacy. But currently there is no way to "intercept" a message, which could contain valuable information (such as potential …

  • :C RIP my dream of a Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth in CoW.

  • The ability to change nation flag, and nation leader name. Here's one I recently did after I allied with Lithuania, as Poland. forum.callofwar.com/index.php?…7cc7eae230abd61c22a4b1268

  • I feel like, too many times, players with huge empires won't notice that they've been invaded by someone. If a player invades or declares war on you, it should appear in the newspaper as it does now, but it should also have a notification next to the newspaper icon, which will attract attention to the player, who will then read it and figure out that he's just been attacked. Warm up those tanks!

  • A peace period for all players (except for NPCs, grab them while you can!) will be set, around 10 or so days. This is the time where you can decide which way your country wants to go-offensive or defensive, naval, armor, infantry, air, etc.-and research and build along those lines. This time is also for forging relationships with other countries such as trade, alliances-and potentially enemies. I expect there will be some competition to grab certain NPC lands first, and people are going to remem…
