I was thinking okay we have Tactical Bombers which are your small bombers and we have interceptors which can go after bombers. However I did some research and it turns out that a lot of aircraft can bombs, rockets, gun pods. So I was thinking why not combine the best of both worlds with multi-role fighters. To get multi-role fighters you need to research up to fighter level 3. For the Americans The Level One Multirole can be the P-47-D-25 Thunderbolt, the level two multirole fighter could be the P-38L, and the level three multirole could be the F-84F Thunderstreak. For the Germans the list is kinda long. However the tier 1 multirole could be FW-190 A-8, the level two could be Me 410-A-1, could be the F-82 Thunderjet. For Russia lvl 1 multirole could be the I-16 Type 29, the level two could be the Pe-3bis in ground attack configuration, level three could be the Sukhoi-10. Each one of these planes were deadly in either ground attack profile or in a 'clean' profile. Since they'd be carry bombs and rockets the speed will be slower than interceptors however a nice thing that could be done with these planes is that once they are clear of bombs and rockets they can go after enemy bombers.
New aircraft type.

Here we just call 'em fighter-bombers and it has been suggested before. The tac bombers already in game are not that small anyway, the B-25 is pretty damn big.

Aren't we in the process of trying to get Fighter-bombers? Because i'm down for this."If the tanks succeed, then victory follows."- H.Guderian

And that this is what this is. So do you like my personal choices for the fighter-bombers or multirole fighters as they are called.

It sounds good, yes.

Just a question. In what category would you out the Me110 in? Not really sure, and I am ashamed because it's my favourite WW2 plane. The past is a foreign country.
-
Really Pablo? Their is much cooler WWII planes e.g. 262

I don't like WW2 jets. Cold War and modern era have much better jets. I like the old planes, the ones with propeller. Definitely the Me110, although the Brits did some cool planes too.The past is a foreign country.

Oh, okay. I thought your favorite was the P-38?

Well, either one...The past is a foreign country.

Are you guys referring to the fighter-bombers as the "Flying Fortresses"? Those planes were capable of bombing German cities without the need for fighter escorts because they had tailguns that could take on fighters.
-
The B-17 is not a fighter bomber. It is just a plain bomber, hence the 'B'. A fighter bomber is a variant of a fighter converted to the ground attack role.

Yup, the P-47 for one. On top of its eight M2 .50 Caliber Machine Guns. It could also carry ten five inch rockets, five under each wing. two 1,000lb bombs one under each wing, and one 500lb bomb slung underneath the fulesaulge.

You seen the Hurricane MK IV or the Tempest Vickers E(I think I got that right)? Pretty big guns for ground attack.

Yeah it was the Hawker Hurricane MkII D and the Vickers Tempest P both the former had 40mm cannons while the latter had 47mm cannons.

You know, they did have a gunship or two in WWII. It was a B-17 variant where it was bristling with guns to defend other bombers and it had little or no bomb load.
They AC-130 is a beast from hell though. Made in the 70's and not a single one has ever been shot down. Have you seen it in action in Afghanistan when giving air support during the night? It devastated the Taliban it was fighting.
