    • Changes to the jumping mechanic.

      Dear Generals,

one of the game mechanics allowed units to jump directly into empty cities when within close combat range. This way, some marching time could be saved. We now reduced the radius in which units are able to jump into the cities, to make saving time still possible but less abusable.

Since the jumping radius is now below the close combat range, it is now also possible to defend your allies' provinces against your mutual enemy.

Here is the full list of this week’s changes:

      • Reduced the radius in which units are able to jump into cities from 5px to 1px.
      • Sending units with drag’n’drop to empty enemy provinces is now always a move command instead of an attack command.
      • Attacking a province with the attack button now allows you to damage a province without conquering it.
      • Airplanes got destroyed by patrolling over ships while not being at war, has been fixed.
      • You can now see the alias of the winners in the newspaper for the victory reward payout.
      • Additionally we improved the performance of Call of War on touch devices.
Good luck on the battlefield and have fun playing!

If the allied forces doesn't count as garrison for the province, it is supposed to not be able to defend it. What does it has to do with the jumping radius anyways?

Is this like a retreat option? As far as I know, if you attack a province and you win the battle, you'll conquer it.

Where would be the difference if in both you damage the buildings?

    • To add some clarification:

The change of the jumping range was made to fix some problems:

      a) It prevents abusive usage of unit teleportation. An active player could skip 10min walking time on own terrain or 20min on enemy terrain because units were able to jump into a nearby province with a 5 pixel radius. This was now reduced to 1 pixel, the same merge radius units have outside the province.

      b) It prevents cases where your enemy could conquer your provinces when only allied units where defending it. Now the allied defenders will engage the incoming troops before they are able to jump to the province (this is what you now also see with planes and is actually expected behaviour)

      It also creates new tactics:

      a) You can now order your troops to attack a province without conquering it, for example if you think that the enemy will retake it anyway and you just want to damage its buildings beforehand. To do that, use the attack command instead of the move command.

      b) If you are attacking the same province together with an ally you now have more control who will get the province after combat. One of you can use the attack command to only attack but not conquer the province, while the other can use the move command to take the province after the fight.
    • So, what then, if you attack an empty province, you can sit on top of it, damage it's buildings, and yet not take ownership of it? That sounds like a raid, not an invasion. But then what would happen to your units when they are finished raiding the province? Do they just sit there on enemy control points?

      This really makes no sense.
It seemed like such a waste to destroy an entire battle station just to eliminate one man. But Charlie knew that it was the only way to ensure the absolute and total destruction of Quasi-duck, once and for all.
