Fourth Sunday of Advent: Your favorite Unit?

  • My favourite unit is the commando.

It's always nice to have a good back-up force in your capital. I always make them. They have a huge advantage in cities, cover them from air attacks and nobody takes your city. I usually put railroad guuns with them to cover for ranged attacks.
Also if you need to fight in mountains, your enemy can kiss his forces farewell because you have a man-made wall in there.
They take not so long to produce but they cost quite a lot for an infantry unit.
Also it's quite funny to see people react when you show them a stack of 40-50 commandos in your capital.
  • I like The Tactical bomber because it is Very effective against all troops except for anti-air and is relatively cheap to make, along with the fact that it is an air unit so it is faster than ground and sea units. It can counter just about anything.
"White Fang knew the law well: To oppress the weak and obey the strong"

  • i love the light tank, it so simple to use cheap to produce and you can have an army to fear withing the first few days. i get that the medium and heavy tanks are great but if i own your country with my light tanks before you get a chance to research the medium it dosen't do you much good does it. They are fast and can be produced in large enough quantity to give you the win. there was a reason why Rommel was one of the most respected generals of all time even by his enemy's he understood the same thing i do. Light and fast wins the battle.

“The art of concentrating strength at one point, forcing a breakthrough, rolling up and securing the flanks on either side, and then penetrating like lightning deep into his rear, before the enemy has time to react.”
    -Erwin Rommel
  • In the few years that I have played Call of War, the best unit for the takeover of the world is... THE MEDIUM TANK!!! The tank is somewhat cheap and strong and fast. Making it the best tank on the field of battle. It has excellent attack and defense. Though, it is quite long for research and creation. But still, it's too good to pass up on. So, the medium tank, in my opinion, is the best all-around vehicle for a massive world takeover.
  • I really like tactical bombers, they are pretty cheep to make, and can easily destroy any infantry unit with their long range. Oh, and of course they are fast and deploy quickly if you build airfields everywhere! The only issue is that if there is an enemy naval unit or anti-air gun nearby they are useless. I would usually use the railroad gun to take care of those, but it is really slow for some reason (It is a TRAIN! Trains go FAST! Even if there is a massive cannon on it!). My second favorite is the railroad gun because of its range (would be my 1st favorite if it werent for the speed) And my 3rd is the milita because of how easy it is to mass-produce them.
  • My favorite is the armored car.

The fastest land unit of the game which is very good for scouting.

In early game, only one or two of those can rampage a whole country if there is a single hole (and usually there are more than one). It's cheap on manpower compared to infantry (no manpower upkeep) and cheap on steel compared to light tank.

In late game, its food consumption is low which is usually the biggest issue when you have something the size of an empire. Any unit who can stop it from moving is more expensive to build/maintain.
Thanks to those points, you can afford to hide some of them on the map for later use.

Another good point are its building requirement :
    - industrial complex lvl 1
    - infrastructure lvl 1
Those are met in almost every developed provinces you capture. You can then replace the ones you lost very easily close to any opponent.

And what is the biggest advantage : almost nobody plays with armored cars. So most of your opponents don't expect to see 4/5 of them coming in from different places and have nothing especially made to deal with those. They then have to take actions for those dispensable units while you target them somewhere else full strength.
  • Heavy tank
Who doesn't like a 80 ton beast firing 20 pond shells and blowing up communist t34s? Or sending in T29s and freeing the **** out of everything? How about storming the castle...with a castle because that is what it is a castle with tracks. Oh and what was the most fear inducing weapon to infantry the tank oh what about if you cannot penetrate it what do you do? Surrender so what if it burns oil (That was a calculated thing to make it so the enemy couldent start forest fires by seting fuel depots on fire) And with this video who dosent love heavy tanks?

Oh yea did I mention tht they bounce shells left and right. Are heavy tanks slow? For the most part no (excluding in game) And what else can brawl with the doom turtle that can't be blown out of the sky with a 20 mm flak gun?
  • In my opinion, it is the artillery. It is my favorite because it can easily hit targets at range and the artillery itself won't lose condition. Then you can just send in the infantry and light tanks to finish the job. It also isn't super expensive and produces rather quickly. And, if you just hate someone so much and just want to ruin the will to play this game (or just to be mean ;) ), you can deplete the moral of providence fairly easily, not take it over (on purpose), and just let the people rebel and cause chaos through out his country.
  • MY favorite unit is the Rocket. It is because they can basically damage anything they are sent at. Also, they can force the enemy to focus attention on building Rocket Fighters while your Army and navy pushes through to invade. I was playing Borneo on a map. When Burma, the 1st power player, [I was 10th] attacked me with over 20 ships carrying hundreds and hundreds of armies, to one place. He then made a huge mistake. He merged them all into one convoy. I just sent my stack of 12 Rockets to bomb the convoy. Every last troop was killed. And he attacked and attacked until most of his army was killed by rockets. Eventually I sent my army to invade Burma, escorted by the Navy and Aircraft Carriers carrying Rockets. I came in 1st Place on that game. And I couldn't have done it without rockets!

  • I think medium tanks are the best. They are a nice balance between speed and power. They also work well with other motorized units due to their similar speed.
Victory at all costs, victory in spite of all terror, victory however long and hard the road may be; for without victory, there is no survival.
    -Winston Churchill

Attack rapidly, ruthlessly, viciously, without rest, however tired and hungry you may be, the enemy will be more tired, more hungry. Keep punching.
    -George S. Patton
  • I personally love submarines. Once you expand and have to cross oceans, submarines are invaluable. They are the ultimate scouting unit and can remain undetected while they scout. This prevents the opponent from realizing they are being watched and allows you to set ambushes with your surface ships while the subs come from the rear of the enemy to prevent them from retreating. Submarines are excellent against cruisers and battleships and can take down destroyers and carriers with ease if they have the numbers. Getting the numbers is not that hard because submarines are the easiest naval unit to produce and to maintain. They are the wolves of the seas and every other unit is the lamb. They are also impervious to rockets and all planes but naval bombers and even have decent AA if needed. They make your opponents use precious resources and time to escort their convoys. Even then, they are vulnerable.
  • I like to bring to the seas tons (and I mean tons) of submarines :) Be like oh there some battleships! Cute :) Even if there are destroyers they will always be tempted to add some battleships to the bunch. But then to add to its ultimate destruction, it cannot be seen, so then when the enemy tries to send over some troops, and doesn't see the submarine, you can just laugh and say oh that was funny, he tried to juke me NOPE in addition to all of that, it is dirt cheap :) and requires only lvl 1 naval base, so you don't have to spend all of those resources on battleships and precious oil on building up your naval bases :) oh its so fun to watch :)
  • Fave unit? That's hard to say…because you need a balance of everything (take blitzkrieg, for example- they used tanks, planes AND mostly infantry). This optimum balanced army would be composed of med tanks, infantry, artillery, fighters, and tacs. But my favorite unit of all, that complements this army perfectly, is the rocket. It is not only an appropriate means of disintegrating gold-spender doom armies, but the weapon with which to cripple the enemy's resource infrastructure. And to add to all that, unlike nuclear weapons, they are very cost effective. :00000441:
  • I like the Aircraft. The combination of the Intercepter and Tactical Bomber really augment the ground troops in both attack and defense.

But I also really like the Aircraft Carrier...Not only because it makes it easy to transport aircraft to foreign shores to earn their paychecks but also I get to name them.
