To play games against other alliances and become the best alliance, to gain experience, to learn... I could go on.The past is a foreign country.

Correct, but I also mean that you can fight against other alliances, which makes you better, and you get better in the ranking (alliance ranking) if you win. Fighting against other alliances is usually more tough to win than a normal game, because you need to cooperate with your teammates, and generally players in alliances are better than players that are not in alliances. The past is a foreign country.

Thanks for the replies.
Do Alliance members have a cooperative relationship with each other if two or more join a game as individuals?
For example, let's say I'm a member of an Alliance, I join a game, and discover (by coincidence) that another player in that game is a member of the Alliance (group) to which I belong. Will that have any bearing with our in-game relationship? -
No, it won't. I would highly advise joining an alliance. I have a lot of fun just talking with the guys in mine, I can't wait until we play our first proper match together.

I think I will. However, the Open Alliances list shows those with 0 wins, 0 losses, and mostly just 1 member; not to mention, names that aren't inspiring. Now if some experienced S1914 player wanted to develop an effective group (mentor) 19 beginners in an Alliance named, ie., "The Immortal 20" (I-20s), "Rough Riders", or such I'd go for it.

Hi there,
I joined a rather inactive alliance... I would like to change that by starting internal alliance games.
But I don't know how to start such a alliance game, I could not find it in the manual or in under the 'start new game' options.
Can someone please shed some light on how to do this?
Is it because I am not the alliance leader that I can't start a alliance game?
or is it just something I havn't discovered yet?
Thanks in advance,
Maj.Tom -

If you click "show rankings" on the alliance page, It shows the highest ranked, and the most active, alliances. You can then scroll through.
