I am just creating this for anyone with ideas for the game. I am just a member but I was wondering if a new little thread was made, if more ideas would come in.

  • I made this thread for the sole purpose of meeting some fellow gamers of Call of War. I wanted to hear ideas, spark conversations, make this a big thread so maybe admin will notice us. Even though the "Redneck idea" was a weird and un needed post. It was pretty funny actually. I love the thread having good ideas, funny posts, and friendly arguements. Please get more people to get on this thread. We have atleast 5 good ideas so far on this thread that I personally believe should be considered.

Thank-You for all who are posting on this thread!

  • What has a thousand legs and 1 tooth?
The line at the Richfield beer tent.

Did you know Richfield is the home of the Tooth Brush?
If it had been invented anywhere else they would have called it the Teeth Brush.

Feel free to sub in the name of your favorite local red neck town. :D

    Sorry, I could not resist.

  • Entrenchments: Cost 500 Goods, $2,500, Benefit Unit takes 10% less damage, 5% morale boost. Only available to Infantry and Armor type units. Time to construct 30 minutes.

This is not a fortification, it is a temporary condition a unit may undertake to create a hasty defensive position (digging fox holes, creating berms for hull down status on tanks, etc). Once the unit or stack of units move, the condition is lost. Haw many times have you been traveling between points A and B only to spot a superior enemy column headed strait at you, and now it is to far to make it back to the fortification at province center. Dig in.

  • Gentlemen, in making your suggestions, please keep in mind three basic game design concepts:

    1. There is a necessary trade-off, or balancing, between realistic detail and abstraction/simplification required to maintain the "playability" of any war game.

    2. The level of detail, or "granularity," of COW is based on regimental size military formations, i.e., regiments (~1,000 to ~1,500 men, plus small arms), brigades (~600 men, plus ~80 to ~120 armored vehicles), and squadrons (~400 men, plus ~12 to ~24 aircraft). Even submarine and destroyer naval units do not represent single vessels, but naval unit "squadrons" composed of at least four boats or ships and their crews.

    3. The weapons technology of the game is based on the common technology of World War II, i.e., 1939-45, but some of the advanced/elite/secret weapons tech are those that were under active development during WW2 and their implementation extended into the following decade, i.e., circa 1946-55.

Suggestions for weapons and specialist ground units that are below regimental-size units, i.e., squads, platoons and companies, are below the existing level of of details and would add another order of magnitude of complexity to the game. I suggest that you focus your suggestions at the level of regiments, brigades and squadrons. I also suggest that you omit suggestions based on technology and/or tactics that are far outside the WW2 era, such as ICBMs, stealth aircraft, laser-guided bombs, etc. For those of you interested in the weapons tech of the Cold War and post-Cold War eras, Bytro has recently released a new game set in the modern era.

  • Dixie..... I figured its OK cause "I is one myself"!

And yea.... I have deer jerky in the fridge and a raccoon skin in the freezer waiting for me to tan it.

    NC native.

See I've always felt that "rednecks" (real ones, not the white trash ignorant people portrayed by the media, holywierd and folks that don't have a clue) don't really give a rats hind end what others say. LOL

We are the southerners who, regardless of our education, degrees, IQ level, abilities and skills, are considered "rednecks" by the rest of the world because of a southern accent. So stinking what? Who cares what they think of us? Offensive? PSSSHHHHHT.... we don't give them the power to offend us. Embrace the duct tape and camouflage Jack!

Oh it WAS weird and unneeded!
    No doubt.
But it's purpose was exactly what you mentioned.
It was to keep the thread interesting, keep ideas flowing, promote some "outside the box" thinking and make the thread and the discussion of new ideas entertaining.

    Thanks for your comments.
