Mechanized or Motorized Research Options?

    • They're completely different unit types... motorized is like infantry with huge speed, mechanized is like a light tank that isn't bugged in cities. Pick the unit you need)))

Mechanized infantry is the superior performing unit to motorized infantry in almost all respects. A quick comparison of the two units' spec sheets will tell you all you need to know: mechanized infantry is stronger offensively and defensively against other units of both the "infantry" and "armored" armor classes, it has greater anti-aircraft strength against aircraft units, it has 5 more hit points per unit (20 vs. 15), it is a member of the "armored" armor class, and it is the second-fastest ground unit in the game. It is also stronger, faster and more flexible than light tank units of comparable research level, and I stop producing light tanks when mechanized infantry becomes available.

The easy way to keep the distinctions in mind is to think of motorized infantry as the faster-moving, slightly stronger version of conventional infantry. Mechanized infantry is faster and closer to other armor units in strength, but unlike tank units, it is not handicapped in urban environments (where dismounted infantry can fight on foot, supported by their armored vehicles).

The down side of mechanized infantry is that it requires more resources to produce than other types of infantry and light tanks, its daily oil upkeep is 1/3 greater than motorized infantry, and it is more vulnerable to enemy anti-tank and tank destroyer units than either conventional infantry or motorized infantry. Its daily food upkeep is more than 3 times that of a light tank brigade.

Here's one other smart tip: producing mechanized infantry is usually more cost-effective in longer games played on the bigger maps because of the additional research time and the additional oil required to produce and maintain them. Games played on the 22-player map are usually over in 30 to 40 days, often before you can produce and effectively use mechanized infantry.

      i play in 10 player map :(

If your game on the 10-playerEuropean map lasts longer than 30 days, and you're planning on conquering the Soviet Union's vast territory, fast-moving mechanized infantry could still be very helpful. As much as anything, it's a question of whether you can fit the mech infantry into your research schedule with all of your other priorities.

Also i Fit in Level 3 Motorized and Level 1 Mechanized in my Schedule Also How to Merge Units?
    • Units of the same type (land, air, navy) will merge automatically if you move them to the same place and stop there.

    • You also have to plan ahead. Motorized requires level 2 barracks. Mechanized requires level 3 barracks. I use both motorized and mechanized infantry with other infantry or by themselves to attack urban (city) provinces. Both are good for attacking defending infantry. They both cost about twice the manpower of a light tank to produce.
Motorized research is available at day 8. Motor (INF armor class) requires 90 food/day.
Mech inf (Armor armor class) research is available at day 20. Both require 90 food/day. Both require 100 manpower/day. Mech requires 100 oil/per day. The mech has better anti-air than motorized. Motorized has better anti-air than infantry. Infantry has better anti-air than tanks. As Montana said "it is more vulnerable to enemy anti-tank and tank destroyer units than either conventional infantry or motorized infantry. Its daily food upkeep is more than 3 times that of a light tank brigade."
      Light tank requires only 25 food/day, no manpower/day and 100 oil/day.
A lot depends on your food, manpower and oil budgets. Also depends on what your enemy is defending with.

The post was edited 1 time, last by Lawrence Czl: corrected food/day ().
