    • Make all nations playable

      I want to request making all nations playable by adding a special continent called minor nations in country selection.
      This could be followed up with a side note that these country are unrecommended for starting players.

      I would for one thing love to play as my home country the netherlands and I am sure many other people will have something simular if they have their country as a minor in the game, thanks.
    • How our game works at the moment it is very had to make every country available due to the different sizes and as you said yourself they would be instantly flagged as 'not recommended for starters' and such. It is just very hard to create a balanced environment on maps and making small countries playable.

      We already see this for the 25 player map, it is historic pretty accurate but we still receive reports that it is unbalanced. The historical map is supposed to be a bit trickier to play but in exchange it is historical more accurate than other maps.

      For now we don't have plans on making every country in general playable but we will see what other maps and countries we have in the future. :)

      Some countries such as the following could be playable.
      South Africa, New Zealand, Netherlands . . . Cuba
      And maybe Greece/others
      This mode would only be possible on the 25p map.
      Many of the countries you listed above are playable on the larger 50 and 100-player maps of the Pacific, the Americas, and the world.
      Yes, I know.
      But having them with their historical land borders/colonies would make the game more fun and challenging in this mode.
    • So are you recommending a game mode where the normal nations are AI and the normally AI nations are your choices? Of course some countries would require adjustments to make it fair, but it should be interesting either way. The problem would be starting resource production. With only about 5 regions, how would you get all the resources in the core? Or is that another challenge to add? Forcing early warfare due to non-existent resources.

      After I typed all this, I noticed I was mistaken, but it might be a better idea than the former.

    • Perhaps we give the player the choice in game setup over playable nations:
      1. normal nations (default setting)
      2. normal nations and minors
      3. minors only

      I'm pro choice, people can decide what they want in their games :) unfair or not. people should figure out the way they want to set up their games themselves

      About the resources, I supose every minor should have a food and goods province for initial upkeep cost.
      About the missing resources this will just be a part of the game to quickly get the resources required. So yes you would immediataly have to declare war to get whats required.

      To add up on the resource problem, can the bigg AI nations in this game setup be altered to do more market transactions in the first few days?

    • I personally think this mode would be quite enjoyable.... an interesting challenge, having big nations sell more could be an interesting way to off set the problem, or you could have a stockpile or 5-10k of each to work with.... could your capital produce more than 1 thing?...... just thinking here...

    • In any case, Switzerland should be playable - if someone who just wants to be neutral or perhaps a pacifist wants to play.. ;)

    • Here's a possibility, though it would probably require a complete rework of the resource system...

      Allow mixed production provinces. Provinces which produce 2 different types of resources, at a similar or reduced rate to normal provinces. Should minors be enabled, of course, because otherwise it could fundamentally change the normal gameplay. And possibly allow certain provinces to give food at a reduced production rate(something similar to non-core provinces). Could be interesting... But who knows.
    • Hey. I have a suggestion for some new buildings for these small countries, so they can contribute more to the game . . . .

      For example, for Cuba, let's add ----

      * casinos, so the troops have safer places to spend their saved-up pay;

      * bordellos, because they are good for the morale of the troops;

      * pharmaceutical factories, because the troops will need penicillin after spending time in Havana;

      * rum distilleries, because troops need to blow off some steam;

      * cigar factories, because nicotine drove Churchill's war effort on behalf of the Free World;

      * baseball stadiums, because young Fidel will turn out better with baseball to occupy his time;

      * organized crime headquarters, because, well, someone competent needs to manage those enterprises, right?

    • I Like this idea!

      The smaller countries would be Quite a challenge and Require some fancy diplomacy to survive.

      I had thought for a while,maybe allow n00bs to 'try' the game by playing a smaller country (in the Europe map) to find out if they like this game Before trying a larger country.
      (Maybe give this option to players under level 10,or 15 ? ) example : Fred joins.Fred finishes tutorial.Fred finds a new game,joins.His options,being new,would show him being able to play any of the smaller countries (Greece,Denmark,Netherlands) with 7 day no-attack protection and all his units get a green 'aura' (such as the red 'aura' enemies get when we are at war with someone) that ALL can see,give them the 'standard' 1 infantry per province,an IC in their Capital,and the same starting $$ as everyone else gets. Maybe instead of giving them a plane & airbase,give the countries with their capital on the sea a navy base & a destroyer ? (such as Copenhagen,Athens,Amsterdam,etc.) They would NOT count in a Coalition size restrictions,and IF they choose to quit,as many do,when they become 'inactive' they lose the green aura and revert back to AI control making them pretty much as they are now...but with a few more units (maybe) and some more $$ for whoever conquers them.

      For me,having played a Few games now....I don't see playing a smaller country as being much fun.Not against bigger countries with more ICs and resources.There's just no way I'd be able to keep up after day 10 unless I did some Really skillful & creative attacking. But,with the dropout rate this game has...well,I'd rather see Austria go inactive after day 3 than Germany or Italy.

      That's just my 2 cents.
