Currently in a war with sweden (AI) and using tac bombers to clear provinces. Found a couple of provinces that only have 1 rocket in them each. I tried putting my tac bomber in patrol mode over the first rocket and lost two tac bombers before i decided to go ahead and go in attack mode and bomb it which finally destroyed the rocket (which also caused damage yet again when i bombed it). Why would a rocket damage a tac bomber at all when by itself on the ground? Would think patrol mode would make quick work of a single rocket since they have zero defense. Am I missing something? The second rocket was attacked by going straight at it with tac bombers in attack mode. It survived the attack and then the AI immediately launched the rocket which appeared to somehow hit my tac bombers. Not sure how it survived the initial bombing run and then was able to hit moving tac bombers on a bombing run.
Rockets damage tac bombers when they are on patrol - launch also

Attached is doc showing the next province i tried bombing that had 2 rockets. They launched immediately and took out 3 tac bombers. Yikes.
-
That sounds nasty, maybe they were destroyed by something else while you were away?British=best. Duh!
-
i wish but i saw it hit the bombers and immediately i lost three bombers
-
So the rocket was launched?British=best. Duh!
-
yes, immediately after i bombed the rockets they launch and then strike bombers when they are heading back to base. only takes a few seconds for the rockets.
-
So it's what's expected then?British=best. Duh!
-
It isn't really what is expected. As he said it should not have survived the bombing run, it has 0 defense. It is possible though that it treats the bombing run as "it can not be shot down".

You know that bombers can miss their targets, right?

But it should never have launched in the first place zero defencse.

And the other issue not addressed so far is why would Rockets have an unknown AA value against planes that are on patrol.
Is it the province itself that has this unknown AA or the unit in the province? -
He, from what I've gathered, told me the rocket was launched and hit his bombers while they were patrolling so it attacked them and at the moment if what I think is correct, there is no issue with rockets having apparent AAA defence.British=best. Duh!
-
Sorry, I was under the impression that the rocket did not launch until he attacked it the second time. It did not launch while he was patrolling but still caused damage.
-
Cool, I suggested he might have been attacked by interceptors or something while he was away.British=best. Duh!
-
nope nothing attacked me, just damage patrolling over rockets. don't get it. rockets didn't launch until i went into attack mode and made a bomb run.
-
So the rocket was launched and attacked your bombers. Why are you confused, am I missing something?British=best. Duh!
-
I guess I am confused on how rockets could attack and hit bombers when they are on a bomb run.
-
Realistically the bombers should not be damaged by rockets unless the rocket is guided, or if it was a nuke and was caught in the blast radius or if the rocket was launch It was a lucky shot. I don't think the V1 or the V2 have such capability to destroy planes "in the air""Victory needs no explenation, defeat allows none"

Ruhrstahl X-4 This was I think Vind, of course it's not much of a rocket but it's a start.British=best. Duh!
