For games that can't be joined, you should be able to at least watch. If you put a spectate button in place of a join button, it would take you in the game, but fog of war would be turned of and you would see all units. You wouldn't be able to spectate games you join.

send your friend to 'spectate' on your game - yeah, that idea would never be abused!

However, maybe if you spectate the game, you are not allowed to see any of the units in the game unless a player gives you shared map, out of their own desire? That could work. It would mean you can't abuse it to get a 'birds eye view' that nobody else can see, but can still help a friend out by giving advice on his current positioning. -
thought you would say that, so I made a plan, give 1000 gold to anyone who catches such dishonesty.

That could also be abused
You could set up fake accounts and then "catch" them helping an other fake acount"White Fang knew the law well: To oppress the weak and obey the strong"

My parents once told me not to play with matches, so I built a flamethrower -
Such a thing will never happen Injinji, its way too easy to cheat then.
Also that suggestion of the shared maps players could be tricked then by 'friends'. -

Not a bad idea but it could be abused.

Well Yes (Opinion) Yes because you can Spectate your friends or other players and see his or her's progress and what have they do to win the game...Example Imagine this In the New games Tab there are the Search Options once you clicked it go to Game Statues Click it and Click Finished Game's Now Click and Map Spectate it and See How the Winning Players won the game not in Real time of course but in Fast time where you can see the troops produce faster and Bytro can See who was cheating or not So I Say yes is not a bad idea to add this in the game

What if the spectating was one day behind the real game? that would work."White Fang knew the law well: To oppress the weak and obey the strong"

Or one week, or even you can spectate after the game ended. -

And, on the downside, it still might give a possible edge to cheaters because not all units move every 24 hours. In fact, a lot of defensive and temporary holding positions might be in place for several days to several weeks. It would also still provide an overview of troop strength, particular unit types, and potential order of battle. -

And speaking of Order of Battle, not to mention Tables of Organization and Equipment, and other Military techniques that have been in common use since Caesar was still a Corporal:
When will we get some menus and organizational aides for the military side of this game that are equivalent (at least) to the building and 'chat' features?
