An addition to the idea. Planes of course have an effective range and period of time in which they can sortie for attacks, patrols, picking up an order of fish n' chips.....with the ability to set a plane into kamikaze mode the effective range is doubled but, like rockets, once selected, there is no recall or ability to adjust the attack order. It sure seems like waste though....thankfully the lives we are dealing with are pixels...(they are, right?) Furthermore, the damage dealt should be a reflection of the units current condition.

why this would be horrible: A-kamikaze was, as was mentioned before, only used in the final days of the war, when nothing else worked. B-they did not do much damage. no capital ship was ever sunk by kamikazes. EVER. C-we already have rockets. and btw, i think the nuclear bombers aren't actually being destroyed, their just using up the bombs, and becoming regular bombers again... except that they were only one bomber as nuclear bomber, and so cant be turned into regular bomber.

Pretty much, and since a bomber unit is in fact representative of more than a single aircraft, it probably wouldn't make sense to just make into a 'free' strategic bomber.
And in terms of kamikazes, it's a very wasteful tactic, and was ultimately not effective. The ability to damage key units may have been of use during the early stages of the war, but later on there were more than enough Allied ships available that the mildly hindered ships could easily be pulled out from the lines to be repaired and redeployed. Only the smallest of the naval craft could actually be taken out, since they didn't have the capacity to take that much damage.Kalantigos

I'm sorry Kal but my point(I think, anyway) was valid. You made the point of kamikaze aircraft being useless due to high casualty rates so I pointed out that the devs were putting in para even though they have huge casualty rates. In fact, some kamikaze pilots even survived the war.

Hello everyone i was reading this topic and found it very interesting idea of kamikaze is a very good one as my oppinion. However it shoul be done as one of the option since the kamikaze was act of despair. It should be given more dmg to buildings. Reason is simple: "tactics". By damageing(not sure if i wrote this one right) industrial complex or/and infrastructure all in all buildings you slow the hell out of his units production... My idea is to put research kamikaze in secret. But i gues moderators and more expirianced players can work out this idea better. Anyway my point would be that i support this idea and i see Kalantigoss point about inefectivnes against some units...
With respect and love your lovely fox 3:)Going with head throught the wall until the wall breake downThe post was edited 1 time, last by Desert-foxx: I forgot to say players sily me :/ ().

I still don't like this idea. I enjoy air combat as it is, and I think any addition to it would be unnecessary.Forum Gang Premier
you are a balls -
If anything I would want this option for damaged planes.

@GreatbigHippo i am lover of good "dog fight" my self and i strongly respect your oppinion but there again it gives you more space to maneuver your air forces on ground operations and maybe change outcome of war...Going with head throught the wall until the wall breake down

But how many people will create an army of only fighters? It's like the AI and rockets all over again.Forum Gang Premier

You could still shot them down befor they hit the ground i gues... AA guns and interceptors are still in game...And there is another point you would have to consider one more tactic and adjust your defence acordingly...

*sigh* this feels like the WoWS forums in alpha... Kamikaze units were only used when japan simply couldn't train good pilots more quickly than the americans, british, australians, new zealanders, chinese, and anyone i'm missing shot them down. So, unless the game could decide when someone was losing, then this would be extremely unrealistic.

There could be an option for damaged planes. Like how there attack and patrol. There could be a kamikaze action.

that sound a little fatalistic, fanatic, or just nationalism but i don't like planes getting wreak if their still usefll."Victory needs no explenation, defeat allows none"

Sure, I mean it's more of a poof than a BOOM, the Japanese add a bit more fuel and bombs in their kamikaze units, even a pilot controlled kamikaze rocket."Victory needs no explenation, defeat allows none"
