    • Cargo Planes

Has this idea been discussed before?

Cargo planes were used during the war, and it would seem like a great addition.

I am sure there would have to caveats to the idea. Maybe this falls in line with paratroopers (no, this isn't another paratrooper thread) so maybe there is a way to work them both in.

I mean they did come into their own more so during the post-war efforts, but there were still cargo planes in the war.

Of course they were used more for troop movement and supplies rather than motorized units.

That said you can build a tactical nuclear bomber in 24 days on the map, so we have already suspended our belief some.

So why not have cargo planes?

If you're a land locked country this makes perfect sense in an effort to move troops within your boundaries along with motorized units.

I am sure someone can (or has already) come up with the logistics side of this rule wise.
    • Not for nor against your idea enochen/But to help define your suggestion yes infantry could march
to an air base and begin the process of embarking onto troop air carriers/Fly to an air base and
      begin the process of disembarking.
The whole process would be the same as sending troops via the ocean regarding the time process
to embark and disembark and they would be highly vulnerable to attack say unless properly escorted.
The advantage of your idea/perhaps the longer the distance they are transported by air the greater the
time advantage over marching to the destination.
    • yeah, that sounds about right. I mean the idea would go hand in hand with the *ahem* (paratroopers)

you would have to have a well defended base probably in order to keep troops from getting slaughtered while disembarking. you also take the chance of losing troops in air battles.

I mean I can see a clear advantage in the game I am currently playing in that my key original cities in my main provinces have are more advanced than the ones I am conquering.

this way a player can get better troops out to the front quicker than if they had to travel by ground or sea. I mean I know you can spend resources to build up provinces you've taken, but that gets pricey as you need more resources to survive.

this way you could save resources by not having to build up the land you conquer asap, and can still move advanced troops to your battlefront.

I don't know the feasibility of it all, but I figured what have I got to lose by throwing it out there.
