    • Nuclear bomber damage

Can anyone explain to me how it is possible that a nuclear bomber that clearly hit its target (video and crater) does not do any damage to the following stack:
      2 level 3 medium tanks
      4 level 1 infantry
      9 level 3 militia
      3 level 3 tank destroyers
A total of 18 units at 100% after the nuclear attack!?!?!
      Thanks for any help
    • Did you do reconisance, or are you looking at the pre-detonation intel report?

If you don't have a clear view then you don't know what is there. Never make assumptions about stuff in the dark.

You can look for the clues that it is an intel image, not current view, and from when.

Did you re-enlighten the city after the attack or with which units do you watch the enemy after the attack?
Sounds like you still see the old intel image..
What's in the paper about the attack?
Would be best to have / make screens of such things ..

As Vorlon described: If you do not see the units directly, you will continue to see the old intel image, even after an attack.
Buildings (condition), however, you can partly see directly on the map or in the province menu, even without own units nearby, so you can see their damage partially clear.

Is it possible that the units are near the city but not actually in it? Like maybe the enemy moved them after you targeted the city? (Not sure but I assume this would prevent any damage to the units.)

The blast radius of an atomic weapon is 50km. There aren't any units that can outrun the blast.

Also any units that you had near enough to observe are also going to be eliminated in the blast, so as both Restrisiko and I have said in this thread, you need to go and get a current clear view of the units before you jump to any conclusions.

    • I believe that you check the view in the screen before and after nuclear attack. You got the old information before attack which was a few hours ago. The units had left but the old intelligence was still there. You attacked an empty city. Of course, after attack, the old intelligence was still there the same.

Most aircraft units can fly to safety if you know the nuke is incoming. But, yeah, ground units at the epicenter of the blast are f---ed, and don't have time to escape. You might be able to save a few at the outer edges of the blast radius by moving them outside the radius if you know it's incoming.

Not true for submarines, which are unaffected by nuclear attacks.

FYI, big stacks of 25+ ground units are more likely to have some survivors. I have never observed more than 35 ground units in a single stack being completely destroyed by a single nuke, and usually the total is closer to ~25 per detonation. Of course, this does not apply to ground units in a sea convoy, ground units in the process of embarkation or disembarkation, or aircraft units in the middle of refueling ---- all of which have their hit points reduced to 5 per unit.

Splitting your big stack into multiple small stacks when a nuke is already incoming is probably the worst thing you can do, as small stacks within the blast radius are almost certain to be completely destroyed.
