I've seen that map won with a solo victory in 14 days.
That's fairly impressive, Guioco. I think the fastest I've ever run that map is about 22 or 23 days, and I had some help.

Normally, a really fast game on the 22-player map is 25 days, and that usually requires a motivated alliance. In order to accumulate a solo victory with 614 victory points almost always needs 30 days or more, and that's still pretty fast. A good game with multiple good players can easily surpass Day 40.
    • Was a weird situation. Almost everyone went inactive by day 5 - Left me and one other active player in a coalition - we killed the AI then he went inactive and I gobbled up his territory. Was in my zombie Tac & LT days. I think I was Poland and he was Algeria.

Doesn't look unusual. Also, he may be a heavy gold user - which is fine.
I usually get rolling around Day 10 or 12, where I can gobble up a full-size 40-victory-point country every 48 hours or so -- and I don't need any gold in the 22-player game. (Unless, of course, I'm playing Ukraine, and then I need 5,000 to 7,500 gold units to buy rare materials to maintain my research schedule during the first 10 days or so.)
    • Looks fairly normal for day 12 as it appears that none of his opponents were active players. I am sure I could do at least that good against inactive or barely active players.

If you suspect a player of cheating you may report them by looking at their profile in Diplomacy menu and select the "report user" button, but I don't think it is necessary in this case.

i dont understand how he had so many resources.
Focusing on the economy is often overlooked. AI are also much more likely to upgrade their provinces than typical rookie players, so capturing provinces with forts and usable industrial complexes is more likely from AI than it is from active players.

Also each capital capture will give you half of the cash that the country has on hand, if that cash is appropriately used to buy resources you can usually repair the economy of a captured country with the cash you steal from it.

With a proper use of artillery and good tactics that conquest could have been done with very few losses, allowing more resources to be devoted to economy and not tied up with unit replacement.

Especially by 95% of all rookies, who usually just want to produce as many units as fast as they can, and kill as many of the enemy units as they can . . . until they run out of resources to build more units or until they realize they cannot feed all of their provinces and their units and the morale death spiral begins.
