    • Carrier glitch?

My friend playing Japan cannot send his interceptor to my capital even though I built a line of carriers so you can fly from my capital to Tokyo, but I can send mine to his. The interceptors are same level, they are in range, but it wont let him use my carriers..
Like I said, same level interceptor, every airport is in range, but it won't let him use it.
Is this a glitch or what?

    • One can only use own carriers, not those of other players.
Prevents, inter alia, that carriers become unusable, should a teammate become inactive and have planes stationed there.

If the mate must relocate his planes quickly or urgently, you would need to "lend" your carriers to him.

Well that sucks, I spent 6 days spent building carriers for both him and I to use to cross quick, but I guess he'll have to build his own carriers and put them next to mine.
Cookster, search the forum archives -- this has been discussed several times in the past. I raised the question of landing on allied aircraft carriers something like 18 months ago, and got a definitive answer from the then-handful of players who were semi-experienced in using in-game carrier units.

Before investing heavily in CVs, and their necessary air units, you may want to review some of those carrier operations threads, including those that discuss the disappearing air units bug.

As far as I am aware:

The only bug related to carriers now is that you can't sell/trade a carrier unit AND it's planes to anyone. The planes and the carrier are separate units and are codependent, so you have to trade the carrier group and the air wing as separate transactions, HOWEVER the planes will be lost, because there is a time during the process that they don't have a home, and they don't float that well.

Hopefully the disappearing carrier planes bug has been fixed, but I have never seen an announcement or forum discussion to that effect. The problem usually occurred when the player split one or more of the escort naval units that were part of the carrier's or carriers' stack while the planes were in the air. I don't pretend to understand the programming details, but from what I read it had something to do with the unit designation of the carrier and the planes being tied to their parent carrier while at sea. If, during the split of escort units from the carrier, the carrier's unit designation changed, the planes would go poof!, because they no longer had a valid return address.
    • Look in the news from January or early February and there were some fixes and improvements to carriers.
