So I had a battalion of about a half dozen heavy tanks supported by 15 or so infantry who attacked a town and the only units in that town were a dozen bombers and a half dozen fighter planes - no land units. In real life, I would expect tanks to annihilate planes on the ground, however the reverse happened. The planes took hardly any damage, and my battalion is gone. Is it just me, or does this seem wrong?

It's not, we have an ongoing thread about this. Devs have this as a "feature" and heated discussions have been going on"A knight cannot save the world. They call certain methods of fighting good and others evil, acting as if there were some nobility to the battlefield."
"Honor? Glory? There's no point in speaking to a killer who indulges in such nonsense."

WARNING! This so called 'feature' is not likely to be removed in the near future. Use SPAA or AA to shoot them out of the ground (lol). The past is a foreign country.

Shoot planes out of the ground, that sound so weird but it's actually a thing."Victory needs no explenation, defeat allows none"

That's why it's even weirder!It's been a while

That's why I used it. It sounds so wrong yet so right. The past is a foreign country.

You should first conquer the province with the planes. While conquering them the airfield will get destroyed(if you attack with tanks) and then attack the trucks and it will take like 1 min for you to destroy the trucks. You can allways bomb the airfield with a missile and then attack the trucks with your tanks.

That's one way to put it, but I would prefer using your own planes, more efficient and less res compare to using rockets."Victory needs no explenation, defeat allows none"

Great info guys! Thanks.

I attacked with about 20 tactical bombers lvl 4, and in 3 hours i lost 11 of them, while he lost 3 fighters and 3 bombers... So i wouldnt count on the own airforce in this special situation. -
have you not heard? the game got updated! this so called "feature" is "fixed" apparently i have not use planes yet on this patch but if someone does whats it like?"Victory needs no explenation, defeat allows none"
-imperium thought of the day -
It's not completely fixed. I had Poland with one interceptor fighting the entirety of the UK's army (I was Italy) FOR 6 DAYS. In Warsaw. AND THE BRITISH HAD CAPTURED WARSAW. Neither side took damage till today (day 13) and the Polish plane was destroyed. It's been a while

so its not THAT fixed then."Victory needs no explenation, defeat allows none"
-imperium thought of the day -
But better than before.

Yeah, agreed.It's been a while

Its a good thing they decide to look it up, then arguing it as a feature."Victory needs no explenation, defeat allows none"
-imperium thought of the day -
And then they change it!It's been a while
