    • Naval escorts:
      1) You can merge your transport ships with naval escorts. This can improve safety at the cost of possibly longer embark and disembark times (due to not being online when they merge/separate. Usually at the separate end.
      2) Yes, cruisers and other naval units can provide cover. Cruisers can provide some protection against tac and naval bombers. Cruisers aren't that great against attack by battleship or subs or a superior naval force. So, it depends on what your main concerns are. Still some protection is normally better than none. I have often sunk unescorted transport ships of players that are doing much better on a map than I. In a Free For All game, that I ended in 8th, I was sinking a lot of transport ships of players that ended up 4th and 5th.
