Lost units against convoys

    • All unit types will do some damage to other units, so convoys can battle convoys, typically a convoy of 2 will defeat a convoy of 1.

Are you sure there aren't submarines in the group with the enemy convoys? I usually escort convoys with either subs or destroyers.

    • Ah, I thought you meant naval convoys.

Airplane convoys do still have a minor amount of defensive value, so that sounds like a typical result of this matchup.

how can I learn this value ?
There is not a published list of these. Some things you just have to learn from experience and observation.

how many units I need to destroy convoys without lose in cities ? any guess ?
A few rounds from artillery, or a short patrol overhead with bombers makes short work of airplane convoys.

I always give a march order just to the province where planes are sitting on the ground, The planes will turn into convoys, but my units will not engage them as they have not been given a further order, so they remain at rest. Then I work to kill the convoys with artillery, other planes, or rockets.

    • If you click on an airplane convoy and click on the info button of a unit, Last I checked, it showed that air convoys do not have any attack/defense values. So, this is puzzling. It implies that the planes were not in a convoy. If there are any ground units defending, they will act as if they are in the air.

while convoys do not have any defense value listed, there is ALWAYS some sort of attack/defend value for all units against all other units. In most cases I think it is like .1 or .01.

This is necessary because combat is a mathematical calculation, and zeros tend to give errors instead of results.

If you actually had a unit with zero attack that engaged in combat with a unit that had zero defend they would be trapped in endless combat until the end of the game, unless another unit intervened.
