      Like what if you can choose your Ideology? What If i play as America and want to turn it communist. There would of coarse be perks and drawbacks. Like a Democratic government would make it so you get more money but Morale is lower because the government has less control. Or communism would see less money but increases Oil, Iron,and goods.
    • Hey, my country needs more money, I'll make it a democracy.(a few days later) Oh my treasuries full but now my resources are low, I'll turn it to communism. (a few days later) Damn my treasuries empty again, guess I'll make it a democracy...Unless you can only change your ideology once, this idea will make for easy exploits.
    • Sounds like civics from civilization... nice idea, but needs a LOT of (thinking) work to be feasible.
      When the fake daddies are curtailed, we have failed. When their roller coaster tolerance is obliterated, their education funds are taken by Kazakhstani phishers, and their candy bars distributed between the Botswana youth gangs, we have succeeded.
      - BIG DADDY.
    • Interesting idea, however it should be an option that you have to select at the start of the game, and present diversified and balanced perks. With the right implementation I could see it being a nice addition.
      One problem though : due to the historical context of CoW, this would pretty much force Bytro to implement fascism as an ideology or at least an equivalent, and we know how problematic that is.
    • or you can change ideolegy once every 4 weeks or one week (revolution) and lose 10000 of each resource
      so it can be balanced
      the resources are lost in the revolution
      and one more thing what if insead of differting to a diffrent nation what if your morale is low
      higer chance of revolution to change ideolegy
    • Definitely a bit extreme, doubling your unit damage would basically secure your victory. But we probably should have a pro/con change if governments existed. There would also be one called "Classic" that wouldn't change anything. Also, having any of them increasing all units' strength would give a distinct advantage, but you might be able to boost air or naval units by 10% or infantry or armored units by 5%, and a secret boost for 10% with a 15% reduction in resource production. Maybe even add one that would increase resources produced in non-core provinces (from 25% to 33%), but it would also weaken your armored units by 10%.

    • Here're my ideas for this idea:

      For some maps you will have the option to choose your ideology at the start of the game, for some maps(particularly Historic World War and Events) the ideology will be pre-chosen. Each ideology has its own strong points and weak points. These are some of my ideology ideas:

      Democracy:
      +15% economic[money] production(democracies, at least Western democracies, are usually quite rich- some of the richest countries in the world today, like Canada or the UK, are democratic)
      +10% morale development(various freedoms inside democracies make the civilians happier)
      -5% military strength(democracies are slow in making choices, because of the bureaucracy)

      Communism:
      +10% resource production(collective farming and, unfortunately, forced labour all contribute to the glory of the Motherland)
      -5% morale development(I wouldn't like living with the fear that I might be arrested for saying something slightly political)
      -5% economic production(corruption!)

      Totalitarianism(which is just fascism but SHHH BYTRO DOESN'T KNOW THAT):
      +5% army strength(fight for the Fatherland!)
      -10% economic production(protectionist policies that go along with this type of government hinder its economic development)
      -5% morale development(again, I don't want to be arrested for saying Dictator Kimmy looks like he ate too many Big Macs)

      ^These are just some of my ideas, sooooo yeah

    • Anarchism:
      +8% morale
      -4% production
      Absolutism:
      -5% morale
      -5% Production
      +8% Damage
      +4% Manpower Production
      Liberalism:
      +10% Morale
      -5% Damage
      Conservitism:
      -5% money production
      +2% manpower production
      Socialism:
      +5& Production
      -5% morale
      CLASSIC:
      - Nothing
      + Nothing

    • YOU ARE ALL FORGETING MONARCHIES!
      -10% morale
      +15% army/navy/air force
      +5% production
      -5% money (due to corruption and all those Royal Houses)
      If this was an option, im an anti communist (ignore my profile picture, it was cool looking even with the star) but i would either go Marxist or my perception of Royalist.

      It should also have an effect on whether NPC counties comply with your diplomatic status.

      So a communist country setting "View Map" is less likely to get compliance with a fascist country than they are with another communist country.
      That would actually go against historical example. Extremes often found themselves to be allies, at least temporarily.

      Personally I would think a monarchy would boost morale. Kings and queens are powerful figures that people look to for inspiration and hope in dark times. King George VI, the British King during WWII, was a symbol of Britain. When things got dark, the public turned to him, because he was the living embodiment of the United Kingdom. Of course, there are less loved monarchies out there, but most Europeans hold their kings and queens in high regard.

    • It feels as if the bonuses these ideologies yield feel unimaginative somehow... a percent here and there. It would be much cooler if they provided really UNIQUE features... stuff which isn't affected by ANYTHING right now, things no other ideology could do.

      Some things springing to mind:

      - Ideology A deals double damage on the FIRST round only of a battle;
      - Ideology B doesn't merge units (when taking battle losses, two 50% units do NOT merge into one 100% one);
      - Ideology C allows (part of) the research time to be bought with resources;

      And on the minus side:
      - Ideology X cannot build missiles and/or nukes;
      - Ideology Y doesn't heal units AT ALL;
      - Ideology Z cannot use force-marches;

      etc, etc.
      When the fake daddies are curtailed, we have failed. When their roller coaster tolerance is obliterated, their education funds are taken by Kazakhstani phishers, and their candy bars distributed between the Botswana youth gangs, we have succeeded.

      Well it isnt black and white. UK, even today, is still a monarchy while ie. French never really liked Monarchs and insisted for the Republic, just like Russia. My home country Serbia loves the king [before you talk about Yugoalavia we dont hate the system(coomunist, royal) we hate the idea) but the one we have cant even speak serbian he is a retard lol. So for instance, if he came to power he would be HATED here. I put -10% morale because statistically, most revolutions were against monarchies and Royal families. From the perspective of a classic working citizen, they may not be loved too much because they never pay taxes, they have new houses, cars, and in most cases they are apsolute owners of the country. This may sound ridiculous, but they are bigger apsolutists then Fascists. I think i will stick to my idea of it being a (-) in morale, if not 10, atleast 5.
