    • That's why Steiner's attack is a meme, look on Wikipedia and see their forces. Near the end of the war the Soviets were encircling Berlin with millions of well equipped soldiers and thousands of tanks, planes, and artillery pieces, while Steiner's Army had nothing more than some Volkssturm troops and a dozen pre-war tanks captured from France in 1940. The very thought that Germany could win past 1941 is foolish, especially after they failed Barbarossa and the US entered the war. Although, to people of the past we would be considered historians because of how much information we have, and we are looking at all WW2 events in hindsight with all classified information revealed. So for some people it still seemed a reality that Germany posed a threat even in late 1944.

huh? 14 mil Russian vs 5 mil Germans???

no way they could win, Russia wanted revenge, the allies had better infrastructure.
I was talking about 5 million western allied forces in Europe… the Germans where like 2-3 million MAX.

      You summarized everything perfectly.

    • Soldiers doesn't equal strength. At the end of the war, the Axis had no logistics, their tactics and communication were exposed, most experienced soldiers were dead, most recruits were kids, the Luftwaffe became useless, the surface navy of the Kriegsmarine became useless, soldiers had no food, their vehicles ran out of fuel, and partisans popped up all over the place. I could keep naming stuff wrong with Germany after the allies came in full force, but you have the same mindset as the German commanders ironically. They thought that having more soldiers and recruits would be beneficial, but they forgot they couldn't even supply the current army with food, weapons, or ammo. Even if they magically were able to recruit and fund more troops the allies still had tens of millions fighting and even more producing materiel.
    • Exactly. During the war the allies mobilized more soldiers than Germany had ethnic German population, and could have brought in millions more. As said above, most of those soldiers were poorly trained, equipped and shaped for war. Actual soldiers in a normal manner numbered 2 million at best. Soviet and allied forces were superior in every manner at this point, had cracked any German enigma codes, outproduced by a huge margin etc…

    • Especially during the final years when the allies were able to freely bomb German occupied targets, their logistics were just lost altogether. In the final months of the war, the Po River had been bombed so much that there were 0 bridges left to transport any goods to the German soldiers stationed in Italy. The allies exponentially grew as the Germans got weaker, and people always forget the large partisan groups and uprisings that wreaked havoc on supply lines and other factors.
    • That.. actually would work! Would fit the end of WW2 excellently as well, since it became a scramble for whoever could take over the most of the crumbling Nazi-empire first. Combine this with more late war stuff (giving the allies more units, and research, as you said) so you can make the scenario a bit more chaotic and it would be very fun! Only thing is Wermaboos would probably not be happy..
