    • Getting Navl Bombers out of Aircraft Carriers

Having difficulties getting Naval Bombers out of Aircraft Carriers for either patrolling or attacking an enemy. Is there an easy way to do that? The split function used for ground and air units would seem convenient here.

    • The spot to click the planes is not exactly on the planes image, but somewhere a little bit higher and to the right of it.
Also, for easier selection it is best to zoom in completely.

Other option with the PC version:
Draw a circle (holding right mouse button) round the carrier and then split out the airplanes.

    • Currently in the enhanced graphics it is tricky to select just the planes as the carrier icon and the plane icon compete for the same space. This will be updated soon, but in the meantime switching the enhanced graphics off is the easiest way to select planes.

First a little background about how planes and carriers work:

The carrier is a ship, which is also a floating airfield. Because it has these two roles there are a few quirks of the controls that sometimes confuse people.

The planes are parked on top of the ship and are separate from it. This is a necessary part of leaving them flyable as planes so that they don't get confused with a convoy which needs an airbase to fly from. (Note here that planes MUST fly to the carrier. There is no method of getting floating plane convoys on board the carrier.)

In order to control the ship and give the ship movement orders, you need to select the ship. When you select the ship, you will see the shadow icons of the planes on board in the menu. This simply indicates that the available slots on the carrier are filled with these planes. The planes are NOT selected by clicking on the ship.

In order to control the planes, you need to select the planes. Some good advice here:

So you need to wiggle your mouse around until the plane is highlighted, and then you can click on it.

      Alternatives:
      There are many alternate selection methods, such as this;

This is what I call a "shadow loop" which happens when you hold the right mouse button and move the mouse. Rather than a "circle" I find a triangle works the best. Draw a straight line down and across in an L shape while holding the right mouse button. This selects all the units inside. Then use the split button. You can also use this to select the ships. (One word of caution: If you select both the carriers and the planes with this method and give a move order the planes will naturally try and reach that place by the fastest possible method, which can be flying to another airbase and then swimming.)

Another alternate selection method is to use the right and left arrow keys to cycle through the units. This can be a slow process when you have a lot of units. First select one unit, and then the left or right arrow keys will cycle through other units. Reloading the page will refresh the unit list which is needed in some cases.

The best method for selecting a specific unit in a crowd is with the Ctrl +F search box. Simply press Ctrl + F and type in the unit designation, such as "AB12" and press enter to select that unit/group. If you don't know the unitID You may be able to determine the designation from newspaper reports or from the unit list in diplomacy menu as if you were going to trade an army to someone

A few notes: When you want a patrolling plane to return to the carrier it is best to use the "stop" command, rather than try a "move" command back to the carrier. (Part of the reason for this is the plane could find another airbase to land at first, and then miss the boat if the carrier is in motion.

When you try and send a plane to a carrier, pay attention to if it is going to fly, or swim. Swimming is bad, meaning your carrier is out of range of an airbase in most cases.

Carriers need to be moved out of the naval base after construction before they are active. They may not conduct flight operations while still in drydock.

    • General,

If you are on PC, hold right click and circle around the carrier and planes. Then, split the planes from carrier, and voila!

If this still doesn't work, select any unit, then use the left/right arrow keys to cycle through your different units until you come to the planes on the carrier.

If you're on mobile, select the carrier, then add army, select the planes, then split planes from the carrier and attack/patrol/move.

These options have been mentioned already, but this is the most concise answer I can give. Happy hunting!

    • Very glad to hear that the carriers will be fixed, they need some serious re-adjustment

    • The updated selection system for units, including planes and carriers, is included in today's release.
