    • Suggestion: Heavy/ Escort Fighters

      I had a stack of planes up in Alaska in a recent game, and I realized something quite obvious: tactical bombers have much longer range than fighters, and get torn up on longer runs when a smart enemy has AA and fighters. The same thing tended to happen in the actual WW2, and did they just let that happen? No! They built fighters that had a better range. Call of War's aerial aspects are undeveloped in my opinion, and don't reflect the actual situations of WW2. I believe that to remedy the trouble of unaccompanied bombers, how about they add some escort fighters?

      Pros: (vs fighter)
      -Long range (around 450)
      -Good air to air
      -Higher Health (25)
      -Faster (550 KMH)

      Cons (To keep them from being OP):
      -Not Carrier based until level 3
      -Not re-searchable until day 16, after lvl 2 fighters
      -Terrible against land units
      -Requires lvl 2 airbase
      -Expensive: 1500 goods, 1100 oil, 1250 steel
      -Hard to keep up: 75 food, 150 oil


      LOOKS (purely speculative)
      US/ Allied - Lockheed P38
      German/ Axis - Messerchmitt BF110
      Russian - Who knows? A Yak? A MiG?
      Japanese - Ki-45

    • And then once they built a longer range fighters . . . They built a longer range version of the bombers. ;)

    • I like your thinking and the way you present it makes sense. Although in reality the bombers were fling unescorted during the final trip of their destination. You say that they've build fighters with a bigger range but that's what knowledge research is for. If we start adding more new units it will just over complicate the game what would be less attractive for new players.

      Yes they were, but the range on fighters wasn't as short as it currently is in game.

      It would be a mid game unit which would only be used in some strategies, and would probably not be used at all in the tutorial. It would also increase the usefulness of already underused features like strategic bombers, and make defensive fighters more important.

      Yes I know they just sound like buffed fighters, but with current game mechanics, there is no way to factor in the decreased maneuverability and the sluggishness of these mostly twin engined long range fighters, so I though this would be the best way.
