    • Weather Addition to Game

Hello, I am thinking of adding weather and weather forecast to this game. First, you should have some random weather changes every hour/day.

The weather will affect the following

      • Speed
      • Damage Counter
      • Defence counter
      • Visibility (Although this is mainly through thread of different terrain visibility, it would work well with it)

The weather forecast will tell you what will happen throughout the following days in different areas. It should be similar throughout provinces nearby and Rain should be less frequent than sunshine. The forecast, just like any other, will not be 100% accurate.

Please tell me what can be changed to make this a better suggestion/thread.

    • Yes. Yes yes yes!

It supports the idea of planning and takeing risks!

Imagine: It's stormy, your planes have reduced their movement range, therfor you can't bomb the enemy to the extent you want/need. Your soldiers and armor are forced to go through mud and therfor are slower, So you have to wait for the weather to clear, and in that time your enemy has time to prepare and take you on.

This way, you have to watch the forecast carefully to plan your attacks. Brilliant idea!
    • What value / benefit would have weather / climatic conditions in a game, where 1 day on a normal map equates to about half a year, so 1 hour ingame equals more than 7 days?

.. it would be just another, separate X-factor whether it's snowing or raining or if it's a sunny day or a moonless night, or if it's a spring-morning, summer-day, autumn-evening or winter-night at the moment when a unit / army shoots next time ..
(and it would be an annoying, flickering graphic if every few minutes the weather and time of day would change)

.. but, all such things as e.g. unfavorable weather / clime, blizzards, cloudbursts, morning dew, glaring sun, full moon, abrupt night blindness, fear in the dark, fail shots, sudden engine damages or axle breaks, unpredictable very experienced opponents, ambushes, diarrhea epidemic, low morale / lack of concentration due to poor breakfast or too little sleep (or whatever), tangled fishing lines, torpedo failings, drunken officers, the afterglow (later then), arrogance mentality and underestimation of the opponent, lost lucky charms, etc. are allready abstract simulated by the unpredictable great X-factor.

CoW is not a trivial action game -- even if that direction has unfortunately already been taken ..

Browser games are an ingenious business idea to lure out money ..
..... >> more or less cleverly camouflaged as a real game <<
.... .. so beware of caltrops, spring-guns and booby traps. :00008185:
Warning! Texts above this signature may contain traces of irony! :D
    • You might not need the graphic but maybe same weather for one real life day. The CoW should be based in Rock/Paper/Scissor basis. Just like war, we also need careful planning and not a 1:1 who will win game. We might not need to go that specific in the game but weather is ok.
