How to privately play homefront with group of friends

    • You can't privately have a homefront map for just you and your friends but you can join a public one with a handful of friends, all you really need to do is join one with enough room the rest and tell them the game ID number the 7 digit number from there tell your friends the number, they will then search for the game using the top search bar and next they just have to join and you guys have all joined in a match

does the user created matches eat up space or something? Just an observation but the staff usually seems to encourage public games far more so. Just curious as to why the private games aren’t pushed just as much.

they could create a private if they wanted by all means the reason I didn't suggest it is because there's only a few maps players can actually create, the 50 player homefront map isn't one of them. Also it's been limited who can create their own matches to only high command now can create one match every month or so.

That is a big part of it. User created games are more often than not abandoned or hardly played, so they use server resources to compute all of the AI actions that still continue even when the user only opens them a couple times a week and drags a map out for hundreds of days.

    • How long does a match continue to play out after it has been abandoned? And, does it help if we are aware of abandoned games? Letting you guys know it’s abandoned so you can close it?

    • If you keep it in archive and do not go back, it eventually disappears. Even if you return to current games, you will be inactive and the game should end.

    • Yea, this I am aware of. But how long will the abandoned game sit in the archive before it disappears? It’s probably been 2 or 3!weeks since I last opened the game. The others that I’ve lost I believe stay until they are won by someone.

    • In a lot of cases a game with no active players will be ended after 7 days of no activity if I remember correctly. Also when updates are rolled out games with no activity have been known to be ended as well. It must have some sort of cleansing cycle so to speak.

Once a game is ended it is available in your game list for 14 days before being removed from the server.

Note that this is regular days, but speed games will show the time since last opened in "game days" So 14 real days on a 2x game will be 28 game days.

.. but even if you don't play anymore but are still in the players list of a map, this map stay in your archive as long as other players are still playing there ..
(but if you are kicked as inactive, the map disappears)

.. only after maps are final ended they will disappear in about 14 days from your game list ..

      49-30 = 19

I have never seen a 100 map end on day 19 before. Not even close.

Just because you were eliminated or stopped playing does not mean the game is over. It continues until someone wins.
