Royal Navy has never had nuclear carriers...only France and America have

It's odd...the Brits have nuclear submarines, but even the new Queen Elizabeth Class carriers are non-nuclear. Quite a shame. If they were indeed nuclear warships, and also the second largest class of carrier, then Britannia could begin to once again rule the waves.

Well, its generally agreed that Britain's superpower status came to an end with the Suez Crisis of 1956. Also, the Brits of course retain nuclear-tipped Trident Submarine-Launched Ballistic Missiles on a fleet of SSBNs. Still a shame they never got nuclear carriers.

Quick question: how quiet and how 'good' in general terms are diesel-powered subs?

Most countries can't though, not even main aggressors like the Italians. Not A Communist wrote:

Why not exactly though?

The Italians had very little gear. The biggest problems are naval forces, air forces and armour. Especially the armour. The Italians had very little medium armour and no heavy armour. Not enough strategic or tactical bombers as well. Same for CV's and for BB, you would be scraping the bottom of the barrel. Lacked more or less all special weapons and had few to no subs. Not A Communist wrote:

If it comes to it, they could just have the same medium tank design as the Germans.
