    • Flamethrowing units

      Happy New Year to everyone.
I have wanted to suggest this for awhile now:
Is possibility of adding infantry unit of flamethrowers been looked in?
I think they would be handy in urban and wooded provinces. They could be highly effective against infantry units and relatively effective against armour units in urban and wooded provinces.
I'm curious to hear some feedback.

      Ciao
    • Just consider for a moment what it is you are asking.

The Infantry unit icon represents 15-20,000 DIVISION sized unit of soldiers. The Lvl 5 Infantry description actually shows a Flamethrower unit in action... that's because Flamethrowers were part of the Infantry Class units... not a separate class of soldier such as Commando or Paratrooper.

I don't recall a single Division of 20,000 soldiers... all equipped with Flamethrowers roaming the countryside of Europe, or Island Hopping in the Pacific.

They were a small part of each infantry division weather they were landing in Normandy or Storming Iwo Jima.

Now if you were asking for your Infantry ICON to appear as a Flamethrower equipped Marine when you Research Lvl 5...

I'm in for that... But for a new type of Infantry unit... Not so much.

    • 20000 Flamethrowers would be insane. For instance, Star Wars dont have all Flame Trooper units. If you check, they have one specialist every 10 stormtroopers so it should be involved in infantry divisions.

    • In these cases I like to point out that an infantry unit is a simple soldier, but as you research higher levels of them you can plan that they get more advanced and varied weapons with which to conduct combat operations in their specific circumstances.

    • The flame throwing units will have to be just like in real life: small units which will be vulnerable if on their own but added to normal infantry it will increase effectiveness of both units in urban, forests and bunkers.
Also flame throwing tanks are an option: they could have increase HP points in urban areas and against bunkers
    • Are there actual flame throwing tanks at the time of WWII, remember that these units have to be WWII related. If it goes too far, you should suggest it in CON. BTW, is Conflict of Nations still Bytro? The developers have Dorado signature instead???

yes there were flamethrower tanks during second world war, the first one that comes to mind is the Churchill "Crocodile" flame tank, along with a few others such as the M4 "Crocodile" and StuG lll Flamm. The ones I listed started service around early 1940's

    • They were generally apart of regular tank divisions, but they didn't always go with regular tanks generally they would mainly go with other flame tanks along with infantry regiments.

Yes, so I dont see the need to add this unit. Just like whether you will add a sniper unit or not... Maybe, if you ever heard of the USSR sniper army. Commanded by a general :)
