      Call of War Forum What is Happening #1?

      What has been happening in the Call of War During March? We have gone through multiple updates this month including the second update for Call of War 1.5, fire control and even free HC for 2 weeks! Now let’s get started with the beginning of March.

      Balance

      As everyone knows, reality in this game is very important. Lets all keep in mind that reality and balance is the main conflict here for the developers. One thing for sure is that not all countries in the WWII have the power and science to create atomic bombs and rockets. However, large countries are all ruled by players which means that such weapons must be available for them so it is fair.

      1. Rocket contradiction. Some say that rockets are overpowered and some say that they are weak. Honestly, if there is a military base, and you send a rocket there. That will obviously do plenty of damage and wipe out a portion of the army. However, the blast radius of a rocket is not really large and it will be hard to wipe out an army in the city or even knock down a city. The rockets are definitely easy ‘spammable’ and easily wipe out one large stack. As stated by Bundy 34, you actually do not need to use gold to spam it. I agree that double/triple production rate will work. I guess all other suggestions by Bundy 34 might be a bit too much.


      Bugs/Issues

      1. Can’t make alliance game without HC has been posted by someone and others have had the same thing. However, I do not thing that is the case, a week or more ago, I could create multiple internal games without HC. Must be some sort of bug.
      2. Wrong names have been suggested multiple times.
      3. Collect Reward not giving reward. I have asked this question before and so has others. Whenever you completed an achievement and clicked on claim reward. The gold will come back 24 hours later. I guess this is because it is counted as a currency or something important which makes giving it not easy and needs to go through a process.
      4. Nationalist Tech tree issue. As suggested by me, Nationalist China uses weapons homemade, American weapons and even a couple divisions of German Weapons. Communist China uses homemade ones and a small amount of American and german weapons during the beginning of the war but at the ending, large amounts of weapons were captured from nationalist China because troops from nationalist China are joining communist China.




      Implementation

      1. The implementation over waterways was also one of the calls. Sometimes the implementation of geographic features will take too much time and not be useful and really problematic to players.
      2. The implementation of the feature of customizing unit is really common. Keep in mind that names added to the game must be appropriate and monitoring them causes a lot of issues with the moderators. However, we must keep in mind that choosing unit names is also a way to go through it.
      3. The implementation of supply routes is a great idea but is too complicated to be added to this game. There are, of course, also sub threads with the idea of supply routes. Having buildings as supply routes will not work as every single province will need to have it and it will be a waste of time. However, encirclement of units and not allowing supply ‘routes’ to go through is definitely a really great idea even though many players do not like it.
      4. Implementation of an aerial transport is not the first time being suggested. In my opinion, aerial transport is a great idea but not an ideal way in COW or during the WWII. There is simply not enough planes for a division or units. Also, Airbus 380 isn’t thing. This thread unfortunately went off topic and into battleships. 
      5. There has also been a suggestion for the implementation of marines. So it looks like the cost is the same as commando and the only special ability is faster disembarking time which I see no use for countries not near the water. Just a reminder that this unit will be superhuman if it does not need to be produced in the capitol. Mass producing units that have 10.0 attack counters will be crazy.
      6. Discord implementation have also been suggested. Moderators have thought about it but think that they do not have the man power. I was wondering why can’t they recruit some?
      7. Hills VS Forest. There should be a terrain difference here. Forest will reduce visibility by a lot because even if you are standing 20 meters away from each other, you will barely be able to see the other person. This should also allow commandos to have advantage. Hills should give you great visibility however units will have to travel slower. Units in the forest will have difficulty but not as much as hill.
      8. Implementation of a horse is definitely a bit crazy here. A cavalry detachment could best be added to a basic infantry unit without causing an additional new unit. It is mostly used in WWI and a bit in WWII.
      9. No gold game mode. Suggested multiple times in March, always responded by Gusv  Keep in mind that developers need to earn money!


      Graphic

      1. The new graphic updates are amazing especially the rockets and the unit types are different. However, keep in mind that even if units look good, they must not in anyway look confusing. That will be directed to 2 types of confusion.


      1. Militia and Commando
      2. Infantry units


      Militia and commando are all 2-soldier graphic in the game. However, the colour looks almost exactly the same unless you click on it.


      Have you ever noticed that if there are multiple infantry units, they will look like an angry horde? Don’t get be wrong, I love the new graphic updates but perhaps a new positioning system will be necessary.


      Bytro Updates:

      1.Release Notes 2020 02 25
      I am placing a Release Note of February here because most discussion was carried out in March and ended in March 10. There are mostly graphic updates and issues stated above. This certainly is bad news for some people after this update because they cannot choose AI countries anymore. Another thing that I find interesting is the developers found out that the AI have been parking large amounts of unit into convoys in the sea which gives people having submarines an advantage. One issue with this update will be “We resolved an issue that caused music and sound being automatically switched on again, when switching browser tabs.” That definitely is great fix but how about if you close the tab and reopen it?

      2.Pick your favorite
      Pick your favorite map is generally a great idea but because the forms.gle can allow more than 1 vote per person, that is not fair anymore. I do understand that there is no way to solve this issue but maybe you can create a voting area in the game so that each user cannot vote twice!


      3.Call of War 1.5 Round 2
      As everyone knows about this, there has been major changes to the game and lots of argument after Round 1. Thanks to our developers. They have managed to read everyone message and answer to them.


      A.One suggestion or comment given by players are regarding the ability of units to be created outside of cities. This gives players more flexibility over building. However, other suggestions regarding this will be the ability of annexing provinces. This will be really similar to CON as I said but might be necessary. One tip to give you is in COW 1.0 you could basically attack AI countries or inactive countries at Day 5+ and you will get working industrial complexes which will make production easy and fulfil your demands for more units.

      B.More cities have also been suggested because 5 is not enough. Keep in mind that 5 will probably be for the first few days, you will conquer provinces by then.

      C.Specialised building criticism. I also agree on the building issue. This can also be the only issue I have. Too specific buildings are really not needed and feels off. Comments by Jester The Sheep

      D.Units disappearing after being conquered. How much damage does it actually do against buildings and what will remain after conquering a city.

      E.Conflict of Nations is different from COW. Many people including me think that it is going towards CON and I agree. So Freezy did a slight change of plan. Instead of allowing you to annex cities which is a CON feature. I think that really isn’t a thing to change. I suggest allowing annex cities or… JUST ALLOW PRODUCTION OUTSIDE OF CITIES.

      4.Stay At Home Save Lives
      Lets all thank the Bytro community for giving us free HC for two weeks. As most people are now staying at home, players here are increasing. Main features of COW are:
