Question: Destroyers have different values for attacking or defending when fighting subs. How is that determined?... That is, which unit is attacking/defending which?... The sub or the destroyer? It seems they both are attacking each other? Wouldn't they both use their attack strengths?
I had a Help-Chat mod say that, he believed that, since the destroyer can't see the sub until it is attacked, then the destroyer is defending and the sub is attacking.
So, if a state of war exists, then a sub always uses its attack value and a destroyer (or other ship) always uses its defense value? What if the destroyer was stationary and the sub entered its place? Or vice-versa?
Someone please comment and clarify. Thank you.

But words are things, and a small drop of ink,

That which makes thousands, perhaps millions, think.
