    • Spy report from a country I have no spies in?

In the latest report (1.5) I got a report from a nation that I have no spies in *and haven't had) .

At the same time there was no report from the country I had just moved some speis to. It's like the two countries were swapped. Anyone else had this happen?

Is there something like a minimum spying time in a province before day change in order to obtain a spy report?
    • Sometimes spies come to work for you. In your espionage tab, it will say "We welcome (number) spies/spy who worked for our service." There is no minimum spying time.

    • Hmm. Can you post a screenshot of the spy report? That might help. Also, if you look in the province, are you sure you don't have spies? If you have High Command, and Shared Intelligence with someone, that could also be the cause.

    • The shared intelligence relation is a high command feature which allows any spy reports gathered to be copied to allies.

So if any of your allies have given you shared intel, you are also getting reports from their spies.

spies do not always give a report, Sometimes they simply take their pay and do nothing.

then why do we assign them and they don’t do any thing?

Espionage is a dangerous business - spies sometimes have to prepare for a long time and wait for favorable opportunities before they can take action. :00000156:

Recruiting spies is always a risk -- whether they are successful or not, you have to pay otherwise they changes sides and works against you..

..have you really never seen any spy film ..!??

In my experience spys perform actions everyday, even if it's not always useful. Tip:place 5 or more military sabotage spies on an empty province, you are guaranteed to get reveal all armies. (Has to be empty because otherwise they might blow stuff up instead). However, your ally might not have placed spies until that day.
Also, the spy is risking their life whether or not they successfully manage to report anything that day, so they need to get payed to risk their life.

      Why on sabotage?
Couldn't they just be gathering info?

we usually want to stop enemies from building tanks, thus military sabo to damage infrastructure

      I just tried this. Didn't work (1.5)

Spies work on probability, like a coin toss or roll of the dice.

First there is a chance they will take action or take a holiday.

Then there are several different actions that each type of spy can take

Then there is a chance that the spy Report will be intercepted by a counterintelligence spy

Or a chance that the spy will be captured by the counter intelligence spy before completing the mission.

Or a chance that they counterintelligence spy will capture your spy after the mission is completed.

So there are no guarantees in the spy business.

Maybe they changed it in 1.5, IDK. It also looks like 6 is needed for guarantee because if one of the spies gets deadified then there will only be 4. It also has to be a completely empty province-no buildings, no units.

There are no guarantees in the spy business. While many people claim that 5 or 6 spies always guarantee a report that is not the case because enemy counterintelligence spies also affect the chance of success.

If you want guaranteed results you will need to pay your spies with gold. When you use mere currency they might give you an incomplete, outdated, or blank report.

there is also the chance that a counterintelligence spy intercepts the report before you get it. You will receive just an empty envelope without any documents.
