2. Don't neglect your economy, especially early in a round. As the saying goes "the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the second best time is today" expand your economy early to reap the rewards for as long as possible. This might mean getting an building upgrade instead of building another unit (crazy, I know)
3. Diplomacy. Don't underestimate the power of manipulating other players to your benefit. There is a legend of a player winning a game without having destroyed a single enemy units solely by instigating conflict between other players.

4. Have fun. Sure winning is cool and all but maybe winning is the fun we had along the way
