As with any doctrine, compare the doctrine with the other doctrines. Especially that of you enemies. This way you can see what works better for your doctrine against the doctrines around you or the one you are fighting.

For example: If you have allies doctrine and your enemies have Comintern and Axis you get tank destroyers earlier while Axis and Comintern get medium tanks faster. So that means, it is smart to have tank destroyers in reserve in case your enemies build medium tanks early on.

1) Match your unit production to your resource production.
See what you produce a lot of. If you produce a LOT of steel, building armour is smart and somewhat effortless. If you have hardly any steel and a lot of food, build infantry and use steel for guns and adding some armour here and there.

2) Increase your overall production by building industry besides building units.

3) Build units that counter the units of your enemy. As a general rule, be prepared for anything. Make sure to be able to defend from infantry, light armour, heavy armour and air units. OR be able to attack all mentioned above. Or both, if your economy lets you.
