    • Disbanding units (1.5 version)

Over the years, there have been many suggestion threads about "disbanding units". In general, I used to agree with the (apparent) developer's viewpoint that this issue wasn't very important, because units would (a) auto-upgrade to new levels, and (b) when damaged, could be merged with other same-type units to get back (almost) full-strength, up-to-date units.

In 1.5, both these mechanisms have been abolished. After one or two weeks of fighting, players are left with groups of heavily damaged and obsolete units (like 5x L1 light tank at 5%, while newly built light tanks are L4), that really have no useful purpose anymore. Upgrading is too expensive (after all, the upgraded unit would ALSO be at 5%), battlefield value is neglibible (they didn't just lose strength but speed as well), yet the maintenance must still be paid in full.

Right now, our only solution is to find an enemy stack of some strength and kamikaze into it... but that is cumbersome (sometimes a stack like that just isn't around, and this tarnished unit has to find a front line somewhere at snail's speed), bad for stats (still relevant to many people!), and irrealistic (these hero fighters of the past deserve something better, right?)

So Bytro, pretty please, with sugar on top, can we get unit disbanding now?
When the fake daddies are curtailed, we have failed. When their roller coaster tolerance is obliterated, their education funds are taken by Kazakhstani phishers, and their candy bars distributed between the Botswana youth gangs, we have succeeded.
      - BIG DADDY.
    • If Developers are constantly oppose of a disband unit. How about the ability to reorganize units?

      1. Reorganize ♻
It could operate similarly to the 'Upgrade System'. Although, this time. We'd be able to reorganize a Militia unit into Infantry/Commando. We'd simply be reorganizing the units 'Role'. That should solve the players sending their units to death, which ruins our K/D Ratio and is completely unfair.

Maybe the creation of a hospital building would be more appropriate?
      I support,

      Building - Field Hospital

      - Increase the recovery rate/speed of units within this province.
      - Leveling up the Field Hospital increases the recovery rate/speed further (Level 1 - 3).

I'm shocked Paratroopers came before a Mobile Medical Unit / Logistics Unit. A Mobile Medical Unit / Logistics Unit could do the above for units within its radius.

    • Thanks for the suggestion. A disband unit option of course also comes with a range of problems, including players disbanding whole armies due to misclicks or deliberately disbanding armies to hand over territory to other players.

I think the preferred choice would be to make it so upgraded units are also healed. This was actually part of the initial feature design for unit upgrading but was cut due to complexity and time constraints. But it is still in our backlog, so perhaps we come around of doing it at some point.
There are also ideas to create other means to help with unit healing. Nothing for the immediate future though.
