We, Ukrainians, are deprived of localization.
Ukraine is the largest country in Europe, with 42 million people population. This is a big market of players who cannot choose their native language in their own country.

Let me explain this to you using some statistics:

Firstly, there are more than 35 million people, for whom Ukrainian language is native. Meanwhile, more than 45 million people, who can speak and understand Ukrainian all over the world.
For this reason, Ukrainian is the second most spoken Slavic language, the 8th most spoken language in Europe and 26th widespread spoken languages in the world.

Secondly, adding Ukrainian to major platforms and computer games has been a trend since 2014. the most recent example is Netflix (2020) andApple making Siri speaking Ukrainian.

If we are talking about games, I could state, that a new game localization comes every other day. Nearly all major games have a full Ukrainian translation or at least subbing.

As you`ve seen, Ukrainian is on the rise in every field of tech industry. Especially in gaming sphere.

At the same time, Dutch (24 million), Czech (10 million) and Polish (45 million) languages, which have smaller number of speakers, are still represented in the game.
Ukrainian could be the 8th most spoken language out of 12, that we have now. The funniest thing is, that Czechoslovakia and Netherlands aren`t playable in the game, but still have players from those countries taken into account. At the same time, Ukraine is playable on several CoW maps.

All things considered, hasn`t the time for a new language in the game come?

Also, you could read a great research on Ukrainian localization here.

    • Recent data from Web Technology Surveys clearly shows, that Ukrainian language in the Internet is on its rise.

Ukrainian language ranks 21st in terms of prevalence on the Internet.
This is 8 positions higher than in 2017 and 11, compared to 2016.

The Ukrainian language has caught up and finally for the first time surpassed the languages with a smaller number of speakers: Bulgarian, Finnish, Czech, Slovak, Hungarian, Romanian, Swedish. Three years ago, these languages were ahead of us.

Also, compared to Spanish, Russian and English languages, sites there is a fewer number of them in general, but the traffic on such websites is much higher compared to the rest. This demonstrates the high demand for Ukrainian localization, which the market does not satisfy, and therefore the small number of network resources attracts a lot of public attention precisely because it is translated into Ukrainian. Ukrainian localization will definitely increase traffic, because, as research shows, Ukrainians like to consume Ukrainian content.

Statistics of the Ukrainian language on the Internet demonstrates its sustainable development and popularization.

PS: Bytro Labs would appreciate the fact, that nearly 10% of all servers, that hold sites with Ukrainian in usage, are situated in Germany.

Interesting initiative. But is your community large enough to form a region?
That`s just what I was talking about. The interest for this issue is growing, so would be better to make it as early as possible. And, as Last Warrior said, our community must be way bigger than Dutch or Czech. Another thing is, that we are divided between others localizations (mainly English and Russian) which provokes some conflicts from time to time (no one is interested in it though).
Anyway, big corporations doings in this sphere clearly show, that the issue is important. Otherwise Netflix, Apple et cetera wouldn`t spend time on the community, which won`t give them enough profit.
The tendency only shows, that this topic only becomes more urgent.
I`m not talking about languages like Belorussian, Slovak or Lithuanian (even though all of them would like to see the game translated). But Ukrainian community is big enough. They deserve to state separate.

Anyway, a great advertising company could be done. In 2021 Ukraine marks 30 years of restoring independence, so Ukrainian localization would be the best present Bytro could make
    • To enrich your knowledge about Ukrainian IT sphere and Internet usage, let me show you a bit more statistics:

Almost the entire population of Ukraine under 35 surfs the internet, according to a global study

As you could see, most of users come from the regions where Ukrainian language is , without a doubt, dominant (60% from Western and Central parts). This only proves, that "all Ukrainians could be basically treated as Russians" and "all of them are Russian-speaking"- are a dumb fakes. Just in case somebody would mention them. Also, as you see, younger generation is way more Internet-connected, which only makes the number of potential players higher.

Since the political crisis in Belorus, Ukrainian technical market got lots of companies relocated due to a high number of IT-workers migrating to Ukraine.
The lates example is Wargaming, a game development company, relocating about 300 employees from Minsk to Kyiv

But Wargaming still isn`t the level we deserve. Look here: Microsoft to invest $500M in the Ukrainian market and to build two data centers in Ukraine. Such a company wouldn`t play with money, would they?

So, if the tech industry in Ukraine thrives, what`s the reason not to invest in it?
