    • Naval Warfare

Since, the 1.5 update I have noticed some players using bad naval tactics and strategies in game. This will serve as a guide for naval warfare in 1.5.

Roles of units that are used for naval warfare in Call of War:

Destroyer: Used as defenses against ships vurnuable to submarine. It is used to escort capital ships, such as Battleships or Carriers. Although, it may seem to play a minor role it is still one of the most important ships in game. However, they are basically unless for ship vs ship fighting. They can detect submarines.

Cruisers: Use them against naval bombers. Although, not many people use naval bombers. You should still use them as escorts in case. They can come in handy against surface ships sometimes.

Submarines: Use them against unescorted convoys or capital ships. However, they can be destroyed by naval bombers and destroyers. They are useful for scouting.

Battleships: They are probably one of the most useful units in game if well defended. Escort each battleship with a group of one cruiser and two destroyers. They can fight on equal ground against other battleships, and they can annihilate cruisers and destroyers with ease. They are decent against ground units. However, they are weak when unescorted.

Naval Bombers: They will work on people who only have destroyers, submarines and battleships. However, if your opponent have cruisers or interceptors your naval bombers will be destroyed. They can take off from carriers. I usually do not use naval bombers unless I have enough resources.

Carriers: I usually use carriers to conduct attacks against ground units. They can carry tactical bombers and attack bombers. There is a complex technique called carrier bridging. However, that takes a lot of resources. They are useful for providing your units with air cover for amphibious operations.

      Types of Navies:

      Surface Navy:
Use this setup when you have are an island country or an superpower. This navy will mainly be composed of battleships and carriers as its core. With cruisers and destroyers escorting the capital ships. This navy will be mainly used for aggression and attack rather than defense. Also, it assists you in projecting power into distant lands. Submarines are only compose a minor part of this fleet. This fleet is effective against most experienced players.

      Submarine Navy:
Use this setup in early-mid game if you are not an island nation. This fleet will compose of 1-2 battleships. However, it will mainly be composed of submarines. This is a good defensive fleet, especially against inexperienced players who don't escort their capital ships. This is a much cheaper option compared to a surface fleet. However, you will have to switch to a surface navy in late game.
