    • Units which I never use

Here are some units that I rarely/never use:

Mechanized Infantry - I usually only use them with the allied doctrine. The other doctrines have units that are cheaper or more powerful then mech infantry

Paratroopers - Maybe I would use them more often if it weren't for their long mobilization time (12 hours). While they are mobilizing they are just target practice for enemy artillery, which can destroy the paratroop before it is even done mobilizing.

Artillery - Ever since Rocket Artillery & SPRA was introduced, I've found no need for artillery. In fact, there are some games where I abandon the whole ordnance branch.

Strategic Bombers - Rocket Artillery and SPRA are better at attacking buildings, and you don't have to worry about enemy AA.

Naval Bombers - I only use them in critical situations, like if the enemy unexpectedly and quickly destroys most of my navy.

Feel free to comment your opinions! :)
    • I play commintern so I have a few things. Any light units past infantry is bad, as infantry is cheaper than toilet paper for commintern and the light armored units in that section are useless because of tanks. I don't use any artillery, not because I think they're bad, but because I find them weird to use. I have a progression when using tanks. I produce light tanks on day one, exclusively medium tanks when unlocked, then exclusively heavy tanks after that. Tank destroyers are intriguing but there's just no reason for me to use them. When I have the option, I use everything in naval, and I don't use planes at all for the same reason I don't use any artillery.

Well, rocket artillery targets mostly unarmored units, so if you want to target armored units you still gotta use normal artillery.

So you only play Comintern? You might wanna play the other doctrines too.

Well, maybe it's time to start using planes and artillery. No air force? No artillery. You're doomed.

I agree with Rboi200 that you should always have planes and artillery. Your lucky you have not met any experienced players. Planes can be used a devastating effect. I've seen planes rip through entire stacks of troops with no effort. If I see someone who does not have planes or anti air, most of the time I will easily destroy them.

No, SPRA targets both light & heavy armor.
No, no artillery specifically targets light armor.

Talk to (I think) Scrappy. He spams paratroopers and it works a charm.

I agree with you both. I make it a top priority to always have an airforce because they are very good especially in high numbers and high levels. I had an opponent cram about 10 heavy tanks and medium tanks along with infantry and that was the bulk of his forces. I had 2 medium tanks with 3 light tanks and 4 SP arty so I fought a retreating defense where I bombarded him with arty and used tac and attack bombers to damage them then the army group retreats a few minutes back and begins the attack again. Within 4 hours, he already began trying to pull them back to save them but it was far too late. They were counter-attacked by my own little light and medium tank division and they were destroyed. They had 2 lv 1 AA but they were no match for my lv 4 and above planes. If someone doesn't have AA, they gonna get rekt.
    • I never use:

Nukes: they take a lot of knowledge and building requirements. It slows down your economy and the knowlede upgrades for your army.

Strategic bombers: they have a big range, they can take out airports or fortifications but they are slow and cannot be escorted by interceptors due to their large range so they are risky and the risk doesn't pay off with the results

Militia: I see them as a last resort troop when I get invaded but then again, I usually don't get invaded.

Anti Tank: as they are a stationary, defensive unit that are only good against armour I prefer to use my starting infantry to defend my cities as they are the perfect all round defensive unit

Railroadguns: They are the slowest unit in the game, need to be protected against air and land units, high upkeep, costs a lot to produce and you don't get that much firepower in return. Give me tacs and attack bombers any day. They have a bigger range and are much faster, same goes for SP artillery, just shoot and retreat every 30 minutes.

      Units I never use

Nukes: I usually win before I can produce them

      Strats: Worst unit ever

Rocket arty: I never built this for some reason.

Greta Thunberg units: I never built it but it's useful. As it changes terrain.

Santa: I never made it but very useful for increasing morale.

Crazy soviet colouring book: I never made this but everyone should make it as it distracts the enemy by making them colour.

Now in 1.5 is Militia very usefull units... it's crazy how these homeless people have become one of the best price / performance units !!
Militia has the same (similar) statistics as normal infantry, needing 4 steps in research versus 7 steps of infantry. It even has 3x better defense against aircraft than elite commandos. Well, which genius did this ... as I say, CoW is completely f*cked by its 1.5 engine.
