    • Naturally the disposition of the corps of the army of the Armistris is in a tricky position.

With high command at the tactical level being diverse but lacking the ability to command well in battles with high amounts of artillery bombardment their army, especially the air to ground operations portion. Such shortcomings can only lead to large flaws opening up and their enemies, and potentially allies, operating around these flaws. In order to repel to this the leader of the Armistris and its governing body need to reform the current political position to allow them to change up high command. These change would allow the above mentioned flaws to be circumvented in an important way.

    • In Inamorta, Wulf “tested” his sub-rouge reinforcements in multiple mini-offensives. The result was very bad indeed, it seemed a colonial soldier was virtually worthless compared to an Armstris super-soldier. However, Wulf was a cold, calculating man. Therefore, he decided to use his reinforcements in a way as to maximise their worth. That way was simple- he would use them not as fighting men, but human meat shields and bullet absorbers. The cruel act was immediately carried out, all of the sub-rouge men were stripped of their uniform and clothes, weapons and ammunition. Their rations shrunk tenfold, and they became mere objects, their only purpose to defend the Armstris men, and act as a shield. The Battle of Koru reflected the horrific effectiveness of the act, 50,000 sub-rouge died whilst a mere 12,000 Armstris men lay dead.

The Inamortans were not much better. Most Oslo and Great Olton men were given reduced rations, the worst equipment, and regularly mistreated. Some evidence even suggests “small-scale genocide” in Oslo and Great Olton, which supposedly resulted in 35,000 deaths. However, the Inamortan government has not recognized such accusations as true to this day.

On the 10th, the Red Union confirmed the target of Kraken C, the Isle of Norso. It was to be taken at all cost on the 1st of January 1916, by then the Noran economists estimated the Armstris economy would have ground to a halt. The fall of Norso and the supposed Inamortan comeback would break the Pact’s back and give the League a victory. However, on the 14th, one of the most important events of the war shook the world. This one event would prolong the war, and truly make it a World War.

“(…) For years the Westland has been at war. Our allies have been left alone in this struggle against tyranny, and our adversaries have continued to wage death and destruction. I, the King of the Doran Empire and all of its peoples, hereby declare war on the Red Union, the United Republic of Inamorta and their puppet states. An entire people, my nation and an empire stand behind me! The time has come to enter this righteous war for freedom, to protect not only ourselves but humanity as a whole. The Empire will struggle, it will stumble, but it will never fall! I promise you, my loyal peoples, that in some time, we will celebrate in the streets the news of the capitulation of the West League! I swear to you that we shall wage war with all our might and all our resolve, all the strength we can muster and all the pain we can endure, to ensure and see through to an absolute victory, a victory of our peoples and our Empire!”

On the 14th of July, 1915, the Doran Empire declared war on the Red Union and the United Republic after months of simmering tensions. This move came 5 days after the end of the military reconstruction. It was very bad indeed for the League. The “First Holy Fleet” of 750 Doran-Armstris ships, and the following “Second Holy Fleet” of 800 Doran ships had set off on the 12th unnoticed, but now with the declaration of war it was obvious both were headed to the Armstris Home Island, to end the Siege.

After the official Doran declaration of war, the Red Union was shocked. It had always been a vain hope to keep the Doran Empire out of the war, but a hope nonetheless. Now, 4,000 ships, 5,500 planes, 7,000 tanks and 2,115,000 men had entered the fight against the Union, as well as a powerful industry and a large Empire. The Military Junta held an emergency meeting, and in the end it was agreed that a decisive naval battle may force the Dorans into a ceasefire or at least damage their naval power. So, 1,770 Noran ships gathered with a further 37 Inamortan submarines, and headed for the Doran Sea.

The Battle of the Doran Sea would be the single longest naval battle in history. It began on late 16th of July. 1,807 League ships met the two Holy Fleets of 1,550.

The League’s navy was as it follows:

37 Inamortan submarines, 300 Noran destroyers, 200 Assault destroyers, 150 cruisers, 50 Battle cruisers, 15 Fleet Carriers, 5 escort carriers, 150 Devastators, 150 gunships, 10 mega submarines, 300 Light cruisers, 100 Battleships, 50 Super Battleships, 50 Heavy cruisers and 240 midget submarines.

The Pact’s fleet was smaller with:

50 Doran submarines, 100 Armstris destroyers, 200 Doran Assault destroyers, 150 cruisers, 30 Battle cruisers, 20 Fleet Carriers, 10 escort carriers, 100 Devastators, 200 gunships, 10 mega submarines, 250 Light cruisers, 100 Battleships, 50 Super Battleships, 50 Heavy cruisers and 230 Destroyer escorts, frigates and other small class ships.

Air craft from the two sides began intense combat at around 11 PM, with the Dorans housing 2,300 planes against the League’s 1,600. Despite their numerical supremacy, the Doran Un.88 Naval Bombers and Strike fighters were outclassed. This lead to a slight League aerial advantage, which resulted in the sinking of the Spirit, a Doran Super Battleship, within 5 hours. The Doran Carrier Catastrophic was also heavily damaged.

The naval battle raged on, in its early stages the League was dominating the seas and the skies. By 7 AM the next day the combat still raged, and the League had lost 75 ships, the Pact over 90. However, the Pact’s aerial numerical supremacy soon began to show. The battered Noran planes were taking a toll, and whilst Pact losses were higher, they also had a much larger number of planes. At around 2 PM a Doran Assault destroyer rammed into the Sin, a Noran battleship, sinking both the Noran ship and itself. Such suicidal ramming was attempted by both sides.

By the late night of the 17th, both fleets had been greatly depleted. The Pact fleet had lost 235 ships, and the League had lost 350. Plane losses showed why the Pact was now leading- the League had lost or severely damaged 600 planes, the Pact had lost or severely damaged 850 planes. Yet the Pact still held its wide numerical advantage in the skies. The battle was not over, and it stretched right onto the morning of the 18th.

On the 18th, the battle kept going, despite the exhaustion of sailors. Both sides received some reinforcements, but with planes under constant fire, both sides’ air forces had been damaged badly and were not at optimal performance. Therefore, ships came forward. The Doran commander, Admiral Vice, ordered his ships to focus fire on the enemy battleships. He also ordered any heavily damaged ships to evacuate the crew and then ram the ship into the Noran ranks.

The mad Doran tactics began to have some sort of effect, so that by noon the Noran commander ordered a hell bombing, like in the Naval Battle of Inca. However, whilst that suicidal attack had occurred with aerial supremacy, this one did not. It was an utter failure and disaster- most of the planes were shot down and the bombing simply thinned Noran air power further.

By late night, it was clear who was the victor. After the failed Noran bombing attack, the Dorans had managed to firmly hold the air. 12 Noran air craft carriers had been crippled or sunk by this point, and the Norans were simply too exhausted to keep fighting (the Norans had just arrived after a long journey at the highest of speeds, the Dorans had begun a slow, calm journey on the 12th). In fact, even ammunition was running out. The Noran fleets tried to then escape, but were not fast enough to leave the battlefield. After the Noran flagship was sunk by Doran dive bombers, the fleet fell into chaos, and eventually surrendered at 3 AM of the 19th of July.

The losses at the end of the Battle of the Doran Sea stood at:

1017 League ships lost or crippled, including all Battleships and 13 carriers, and 736 Pact ships sunk or crippled. However, the surrender of the Noran fleets meant the remaining ships were re-painted and entered Doran ranks, so unbelievably the Doran Empire not only won the first battle since its entry, but also suffered “no losses”.
The Noran failure in the Battle of the Doran Sea was the equivalent of the Armstris failure in the Naval Battle of Inca. Even worse, the Armstris submarine campaign that had been going on for some time now to lift pressure from the siege had actually succeeded in sinking 85 Noran ships and losing a mere 26 submarines. The Imperial Navy, now aided by the Doran Royal Navy, was ready to make a comeback. The Pegronian Navy had also had more successes, completely securing its supply lines to Johan and sinking entire Noran fleets. The Noran eastern Navy was now quite small, and chose to remain in the heavily fortified Iron Bay.
I am 100%, totally, absolutely Not GrandEmpire. I mean, my name says it all. ;)
