    • The guide to the Napoleonic strategy!

Hey, In this thread is about the Napoleonic strategy in Call of war. I haven't seen a post about this certain topic so I decided to make one :) . This will cover the units and their uses of them, stacking them, and recommended doctrines.

      The units

Napoleon's strategy relies on fast and destructive attacks and flanking using armies consisting of 3 types of units: The Infantry, the Cavalry and the Artillery. In Call of War, there are no Cavalry, but the WW2 equivalent of Cavalry are motorized infantry. There will be light tanks also acting as cavalry for dealing with light armour.

      Using the units

Infantry: The infantry is the base of your army. Try to keep them alive as much as you can, since they're the frontline units. Keep them together with the other types of units, especially artillery. They will be the second to engage in combat, after artillery and before motorized infantry and LTs. They can also be used defensively.

Mot. Infantry: These units are for improving your stack's view range, scouting and flanking maneuvers. If you cannot use interceptors (Either because you have no interceptors or you have none) scout using mot. Infantry, send 1-2 units to see the province. The edge of the primary view range should be on the province center. After you're done, send them back to their original stack. (Note: You can only scout the province next to you).

For flanking maneuvers, make sure your motorized infantry is not about to engage in combat. Split at least 2 groups of motorized infantry and light tanks and then capture the provinces on the left and right of the enemy stack and then engage your 2 groups.

Light tanks: Basically the same as motorized infantry but less view range and specialized for attacking light armour. They're used for flanking maneuvers.

Artillery: Keep these with your infantry. NEVER let them be alone. They will always bombard the target army. If the enemy advances, move the artillery back because artillery is worse in melee combat. These are used to protect your infantry and bombard enemies from a distance.

      Stacking

Here's my stack from my latest round using this strategy:

I would have 3 infantry, 3 artillery, 4 LTs, and 2 motorized infantry. My minimum level would be level 4.

You can see the massive damage it does to unarmored and light-armoured targets at levels 3-4. In order to keep producing these units, you have to keep conquering provinces and cities to build industry and unit-producing buildings.

Use of the air force and navy

Air force: Do whatever you want with the air force. But I advise you to use more attack bombers than usual since you are more vulnerable to heavy armour and players have a high probability of using Medium tanks, Heavy tanks and Railroad guns. You need interceptors because of a lack of air protection.

Navy: A navy is for escorting your transport ships to amphibious invasions and bombarding the shoreline while your land units disembark.
If you are an island nation (Japan, Australia etc.), a navy is especially important. You need at least 1 aircraft carrier for doing air operations away from land.

      Industry

This type of strategy is very expensive, especially for food, goods and steel. So investing in your early on to the game is a must. In fact, I was still upgrading my goods and food production in the ending days. Here was my industry at the end. Try to follow this industry:

Food: one Level 5 industry in a core province, one level 4 industry, two level 3 industries, and four-level 1 industry

Goods: two level 5 industries (One in core province and one in non-core), one level 4 industry, and one level 3 industry

Steel: one level 5 industry in the core province, one level 3 industry and three level 2 industry

Oil: one level 5 industry in core province, one level 4 industry and one level 3 industry.

Rare materials: one level 5 industry in the core province, one level 4 industry and, one level one industry

      Recruiting stations:
Build these once you lose around 5k manpower in a day. Example 25k to 20k in a day

I had four level 3 recruiting stations, two-level 2 stations and three level 1 stations.,
      Which doctrine is the best?

Here I'll explain which doctrine is the best.

Axis: This doctrine is definitely not suited for this type of strategy. Yes, the units have more hit points, and yes the units deal more damage but as I said, this strategy is very expensive. The axis doctrine increases unit costs.

Allies: The pros of the allies doctrine are that it decreases unit build/upgrade/research time, which is good for researching more advanced units and building a big army. The con is that Napoleon's strategy relies on flanking, and fast attacks, which the allies have a weakness with because of their speed loss.

Comintern: this doctrine is great for this strategy and people that find upgrading their industry a hassle.

      Pan-Asian:
Combining great maneuverability (Great for quick attacks and flanking), and excellent view range (Giving motorized infantry a huge advantage), this may be the best doctrine for this strategy.

      Summary
The strategy relies on flanking and speed using Infantry, artillery, LTs and Mot. Infantry. The infantry is the Frontline unit. The artillery protects the infantry and retreats when the enemy advances. Mot. Infantry and light tanks flank the enemy and use a long view range to scout. The best doctrines for this are Comintern with its cheaper units and pan-Asian with its maneuverable units

I hope you liked reading this and maybe you might try this strategy in the future. Have a good one :D

PS. I did a really quick research on the Napoleonic strategy so if you see anything wrong, don't hesitate to tell me
