One of the questions I answer and explain daily, multiple times is the difference between these two things, a coalition and an alliance. It is ridiculously confusing.
I understand why they have their names, alliances existed before coalitions existed. They should have been changed from the start.
Quite literally, you could just swap the names. New players want to know about allies and that's what an alliance is, not to mention it is the word thought of first when seeking it, not coalition. The coalition is actually the group of friends who are not actively allied but can be if the situation (game) arises. The names just fit better and make more sense, swapped.
This game is hard enough to learn well and eliminating one thing is one thing. May sound trivial, but it's not.
