Is the resulting level of a unit in production, the level of research 1) when production was started or 2) when production finishes?

Really? For me, when I gain a new level while producing a unit, it comes out at the original level and I must upgrade again.

It is for sure the level when you started it. When you have HC, this is even true for the units which are in the queue, so you can actually keep producing units at the "old" level for a long time after the "new" research is already done. Just put them in the queue before the research finishes. Very useful for skip upgrades.When the fake daddies are curtailed, we have failed.
