The US high command distinguished between the China-Burma-India Theatre and the Pacific Theatre, which I think makes sense. There's a case to be made anyway. It's like lumping the Western and Eastern European, and North African Fronts together. They're connected but different.

There already is a really long thread about this where Freezy has explained the difficulties of doing it.
