Not sure if this topic has been discussed before - but the design of the 30-player map is pretty pathetic for a company with the capability of Bytro and can only be attributed to laziness.

I'm talking about the designers of the map blatantly using the original 100 player map province designs even when they don't reflect the actual 1939 borders.

Like really? You couldn't spend the extra time to create new accurate province designs?

      Examples:

      1. Soviet-Finnish border. Awful. Awful. Awful. Uses 100 player map province layout (roughly, 2 provinces were merged etc), looks so bad and messy and is just straight up historically inaccurate. Lazily done.

      2. French-German border. Lol really? Pretty sure in 1939 German was yet to invade France and annex Alsace-Lorraine. Another copy of the 100-player map. Even more unforgivable considering the historical significance.

      3. Romania-Hungary border. Not the worst offender but still wrong. Weird border shape. More effort could have gone in to properly representing the 1939 border of these countries. Like look at a map, there's plenty of highly detailed reference material online.

There are many other examples of incorrect borders, many not quite as bad (Soviet-Persian) but still ultimately wrong. Just think it's not that much to ask for the devs to put effort into creating an actually historically accurate map, especially if they are naming it as such. China/Japan etc is a different story, I can understand the complexity issues.

      Think these deserve a fix.

This is more of a personal issue but Kursk should definitely have been a city province on the map, not just a standard province.
    • It's not possible to implement an accurate "historical" simulation in a game like CoW.

What the "historical" map does well is to represent the relative military and economic advantages of the major powers, including the latent economic advantages that USA and USSR can bring to bear in the long run, the pressure this puts on Germany and Japan to take advantage of the time window offered by their (temporarily) superior military power, and the dwindling power of UK and France as their empires erode.

The main problem with the map is not the map itself, but the fact that the major powers are taken by players who don't know what they are doing, so the map starts of with a bunch of pointless, chaotic battles, the noobs get bored and they leave, and whoever is left is stuck conquering a large map filled with well-armed AI.
    • I agree with zoomzoom
However we must agree the UK has a trash army in its colonies and that can actually be easily rectified

Disagree with your first point, it's entirely possible and not an unreasonable expectation to want accurate historical borders on a map that is supposed to be historical. This is one aspect of historical simulation they can very easily implement. It also has nothing to do with balancing, these would be minor adjustments in the grand scheme of things.

Your second point is spot on though, it's a big shame that is happens in almost every game on this map as well.

You need only 11 level to join historical map and playing with germany

and next day you are inactive or destroyed by small AI players

they need to change minumum rank

you are right and it is still useless , you can be level 17 in two days and game allow to you play with biggest military power on map
It should be around level 30 coz I remember I was over 20 after winning the tutorial clash of nations
