    • Solution to the Title/Flag debate

For months now this topic has been popping up, and I have always taken the salty side of the argument and thrown a hissy fit.

To start, lets talk through why we no longer have a flag/picture/title change in this game, and compare it to S1914.

S1914 is a much older game, I remember playing it back in Year 9 (aged 13) and really enjoying it, and as I played it over the years, alot of people abused the custom titles and flags. Titles always started with 'Fuhrer' which while it didn't really bother me (as it just means 'Leader') Bytro are a German Company (I think?) and thus, German Law tries to stamp out anything to do with Nazism or that Era.*
Many of the flags changed, you guessed it, the Nazi Flag: because for some odd reason, everyone thinks that its an 'edgy' flag. Mods had a hard time dealing with this day in day out. It must have made them insanely mad.

Now, the above is clearly a sensible reason why we can't have titles and the likes. However, I believe (we help from my former comrades on this site) have came up with a great way to solve this.

During the start of a game, we all pick a nation (if allowed) and then start playing. However, we can add two further additions to this, involving the 'title' and the 'flag' of your nation. This will be a one shot thing, aiming to allow people to add a layer of individuality.

Here are a list of flags
      • Kriegmarine (German Navy, minus the obvious banned symbol. Basically would be the Current flag for the Blitz 1939 game, with the Iron cross moved to the top Left corner)
      • Royal Navy Flag
      • Soviet Navy Flag
      • Balkenkreuz (German Armed forces symbol)
      • USAAF Flag

Here are a list of Titles:
      • Governor General
      • Emperor
      • Admiral
      • Grand Marshall
      • King/Queen

And I'm sure others could be found, depending of where you look. So, mull over these ideas and maybe add your own.

    • I agree with all, changing province name would confuse the game

    • Wouldn't it be easier and better to just being allowed to upload your own flag of choice/ pick your name of choice but to have a report flag/title feature so the mods can remove inappropriate flags/names and punish the user.

And actually, this would be one of the only times I would agree wholeheartedly with Ellio.
      It's been a while
    • When I played Supremacy I never abused it, just enjoyed coming up with my own flags. I'd like to be able to make our own flags/name units, and what the others have suggested I think would work just fine. I'd also like to see being able to give yourself any title, but I really wouldn't mind if it was just being able to pick from some predetermined ones. The problem with having a selection of flags is that you'll more than likely run into people with the same flags as each other, and it just isn't as fun as being able to make your own.

I would really like to see the ability to name your units, though, more so than customized flags and titles.

    • Just wanted to add to this discussion because I like the idea of being able to change your country's name and change the flag - but why not being able to change province names? There are hundreds of examples in the real world, and it is a regular occurrence. It often happens as a result of conquest of one civilization or ideology over another.

In the 22-player map for example, if you're the Russian Empire, you'd want to change Leningrad back to St. Petersburg once you capture it. Or if you're the Soviet Union and you capture Konigsburg you might want to rename it to Kalingrad.

Of course the problem with this idea is people would grossly abuse it with unrealistic or inappropriate names. The game developers have to create a certain level of trust with the player community and vice versa. If it's well moderated it could work, as long as there was an easy way to report inappropriate province names.

Quasi thinks it would be hard to moderate hundreds of games daily, maybe have a list of set names?

    • I'll always be one for changing unit names, but after reading about the Picture posting shut down in S1914 (People abused the feature) i'm on the side lines.

I'd like to name units, but people will always over step. Instead of calling a unit 'Wiking" and leaving it at that, some pleb will have to over step the thin line and call it "SS Wiking"- which though is correct, its a throw back to the dark days of the SS. Having 'Wiking' just means 'Viking' and is perfectly fine. But people will over step and abuse the name changing feature

    • I think that u should be able to cahnge unit names
would be very funny, however maybe if people abuse it, they are banned from changing the names
as I dont think they should be banned from the game, for puttinf certain names
