Balancing changes to alleviate Oil shortages, new tutorial map test and important bug fixes.

We’ve been closely monitoring the impact of the recent Resources Reforged update. From the feedback you all provided it has become clear that there is a shortage of Oil in the early stages of the game. This is why we’ve shifted costs on some units and buildings over to consume the more abundantly available Metal instead. This evens out resource consumption across all stages of the game, leading to a smoother gameplay experience.

Also we are testing improvements to our tutorial maps. Some of our Clash of Nations tutorial maps for new players will now start at war with a neighbouring NPC country, have a rebalanced starting unit setup and a few quality of life improvements. Check out the detailed Release Notes below if you wish to know more about this. Please note that this change is still in testing, and as such only available to a selected number of new players.

Further we fixed an immersion breaking bug on the 1939 - Blitzkrieg and Road to war scenario maps. The flags for many of the countries were mixed up. Now the correct flags are displayed next to the country nametags. Patrolling air units no longer apply the wrong province morale damage, instead applying the correct 50% damage per damage tick. And finally, we fixed an annoying bug on the World at War map, where a province in Mexico paid out ten times the intended Manpower per hour.

For a closer look at all the changes please check out the detailed Release Notes and share your feedback with us right here on the Forums and on our Discord Server.

    • So basically, instead of bringing back rare materials and resources (Which many players want, and if done it would bring in more revenue and attract old players back), things just got more expensive...
Though it is a good simulation for inflation.

On the bug fixes, finally, that one province doesn't make 10x more manpower.

I would like to report some huge 'emersion breaking bugs':

      General management bug:
The company once set out to produce the best strategy game ever.
      And they did so succesfylly.
Current management only seems to be about destroying one of the best strategy games, namely: their own.

      Marketing & communications bug:
The marketing & communication management fails at English (dunnoh how it works out in other languages...didn't check), because they keep saying stuff like:
      - "we improved..." or
      - "UPdate",
...but it practically always concerns stuff that comes down to a downgrade of the game; pure dumbification.
As a consequence we get dumber and less dedicated players, and, together with the dumbification downgrades, this makes the game BORING!
Dunnoh about the other players, but I don't play a game to get bored...

      Environmental management bug:
Ink from the keyboards, wear and tear of keybords, electric & peoples' energy when writing stuff, it all is plainly being wasted.
      That is not sustainable!
For example, why write a title like 'Resources reforged'?
One could save multiple characters, the wear&tear and energy etc. by writing the far more accurate and shorter: 'Resources ruined' !

Please address these bugs with the highest priority!
I am a paying customer and the product I am procuring from this company is starting to fail miserably.
STOP THE DUMBIFICATION in favor of P2W & fly-by phone players!
      START MARKETING COW CORRECTLY!

I wonder why Bytro isn't admitting or denying the alleged dumbification of COW

I have nothing else to write. Have a nice day :D

Siturep in an ongoing Homefront game, where I will have to defend vs (or attack) a coa of 4:

My economy being number 1 by far:

      - Oil: producing 3050/hr; stock only 780; this despite investing heavily and continuously in Industry and Moral; going to level 5 has a payback time of 8,x days, thus worth it (also in view of spreading vs to be expected Strat or Nuke attacks) though barely.

      - Food: producing 2860/hr; stock 22k; only moderate investments; mainly maxing the core and keeping Moral at par.

      - Metal: producing 2560/hr; stock 12k; not even all cores maxed and rss-cores not even all at 100% Moral all the time.

      - Manpower: producing 1870/hr; stock now 4k and in a minute 0 again; this with last 4 cores with 450 base Manpower going to 1350/hr with Recruitment level 3. I will soon have to resort to Recruitment on 150 Manpower provs.

      Obvious issues:
      1. Oil
      2. Oil
      3. Oil
      4. Manpower
      5. Lacking alternatives/choices

      Fixes:
Can't invest even more in Oil than I am doing. Switch more to slow Inf-class for defence forces (Artillery level 4/AA level 3/Militia level3), but manpower does not suffice with faster production times and Food requirements hamper Research & Production of Aircraft.

      In short:
The downgrade 'Resources reforged' (better: 'Resources ruined') was the 'Mother Of All F#ck-ups' until now.
It is okay to have to struggle with rss. That always was a part of the game and you had options.
But thís?? It is annoying like hell and friggin' boring!

Soon starting a new game and I am ever so curious if this 'emersion breaking' rss-problem was fixed correctly.

I just wonder, do you guys at Bytro still play your own game (like they do at e.g. Wargaming)?
Or is it just about the short term profits (and f#ck quality & continuity!!) now at the hands of some KPI-wielding CFO, struggling with the stock prices?

FREE ADVICE from someone charging € 150/hr for this normally:

A quality product/service at a reasonable price, marketed to the right customer segment, is the only guarantee for continuity.

Hence, in the long run, when your product fails so miserably as it does now, you will not have any clients to make your coveted short term profit from.

      Cow has become:
      - less strategic
      - less realistic
      and above all:
      - boring
      - aggravating
      - tedious

The 'adreline' I got from this game was preparing for the big battle vs some top-player, trying to make the right choices among many possibilities..
The only 'adrenaline' I still get from this game is from being pissed off about how it is being ruined.

I spend my year budget on this game and will let the HC run out. Not spending a penny next year, until I see IMPROVEMENTS again, as opposed to the continuous DOWNGRADES. Quitting is the next step.
STOP THE DUMBIFICATION in favor of P2W & fly-by phone players!

For the new tutorial setup in testing....

Joined one, though it says it is only for selected new members....

Not impressed at all. 111 starting units....100 of them inf.
      Reduced manpower accumulation...
      Very slow building process....
Upgrading all those inf take's upwards of 40-50k food.

Don't see how this new tutorial set up will benefit new players...it only gives them lots of units to fight with. Doesn't help them with teaching how to balance and improve your armies.

This test gets a thumbs down from me.

Would you say it induces spending gold more, like the other downgrades?
Or is this, in your opinion, an honest attempt to do something good for the game, trying to keep new players in, but just hopelessly failing?
